Keeps the price down for those of us who understand and appreciate it. One of the finest palates bottled. Flavor clean, robust, although lacks gravitas. Color is, frankly, too yellow. Flavor Secret Revealed: drink out of glass, and avoid trying to make a head, just pour to keep the most effervescence in the beverage. Overall, in my view the best satisfaction per dollar ratio available. Derek881 (493), Frederick, Maryland, USA

How could I go wrong with years of tradition at $10 for a 30 pack? Realistically a sub 2.0 beer, but I didn’t have the heart to rate is so harshly. Schaefer features a fairly clear, light gold color with a small white head that leaves almost immediately. It is dominantly bitter in taste, has a low level of carbonation and is thin and slightly oily. The aroma has hints of hops and possibly some nuts, but is very slight. Also contains an enigmatic scent that can only be described as "Schaefer funk." Still a decent beer that reminds me of a simpler time. | 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 10, 2006 From a can. This poured a pale yellow with an active white head. The aroma has some canned green beans along with some old apples. The taste has some metallic notes and corn bread. This is light and decent for a macro lager. The flavor goes away quickly. Not too bad. Nate (2538), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Nov 2, 2006 From a can. Carbonated metallic tang with mild hoppy notes. Bit of corn and grain in the nose, too. Grassy. Dull golden yellow clear with wispy white head. Light water body with medium-high carbonation. Fizzy burning in the throat. Starts with light corn and grain tastes. Mild beany malty presence with decent hopping. Bit of a metallic tang and mild bitter finish. Farily clean after. Overall, watery but not too poor. When I thought they couldn’t set the flavor bar lower I found out they also make a "light" version. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA
