found this in my buddies parents house. thinkn it may be a bit old. havent seen it around for a long time. asked if i could pop it and try ...sure nobody else has in say 5+yrs. drank out of the can. probably pre miller, ooh! lala! nice straw color from what i can see, nose of really nothing. i think the top of the can smelled like the asparagus sitting next to it. sweet corn malt flavors and rusty nailesque undertone. tingly on the palate. what did you expect?

2008 Can in St Barths - The irony here is what attracted me to this 11.2 oz can of "America’s Oldest Beer." Not only was it in a childs 11.2 oz can, it was made in Puerto Rico and was "not less than 4% but no more than 6%%...two tidbits that I was able to gleen from the label...Pours transparent yellow with a minimal head and almost no lacing, aroma is grain, flavour is light corn malt and a touch of grain...not bad, but I probably wouldn’t drink one unless it’s 98 degrees outside and the hose isn’t hooked up..

Well, it’s not that great. I did like it a lot better than Old Mil, but it is not a good beer.

golden with a one bubble stream of bubblus that doesnt quit when poured. golden and dry with a touch of sweetness and a beery taste that our fathers put up with for 30 cents a glass. grain, corn yep and a wisp of hop. it wasn’t bad i guess.

Pale straw in color. Diminishing head. Fine carbonation. Strong cereal aroma with some sweet notes and a hint of cut hay. Light to medium bodied. Crisp with a dry, hoppy finish. I'm a bit suspect of some of these ratings. Anyone who's really tasted Schaefer knows that it is not the least bit watery or light on flavor. I have a feeling a lot of them are from people half remembering the beer from the one time they drank it 10 years ago.

The king of corn beers, folks. Step right up and get yourself a can of the best tasting corn beer you'll ever drink. Actually, if you're looking for a true corn beer, and who isn't ;>) ? You can't do much better ( or worse, depending on how you look at it ) than good old Schaefer. Pours out looking just like a ear of corn on the cob, a sickly, fake yellow color to it. Actually tastes like buttered corn on the cob too. Has plenty of diacetyl for that rich, buttery taste. The hops actually aren't so bad in this beer. Must be around 12 IBU's in there. Believe it or not, it is a balanced beer, bringing both taste and bitterness together. I used to drink a case of this stuff every weekend, but not any more. My body just doesn't heal from hangovers that well these days.
