Bottle from Bierkoning, thanks! Aroma of bitter chocolate, ashy roast, notes of earth, dusty wood and some esters. I am missing more depth. Tartish-sweet taste, roasted and chocolatey but unfortunately also estery-fruity-solvent-like. Very ashy, light astringent finish. Not really much body for an imperial stout, with the tartness contributing further to a feeling of relative dryness. It’s ok but also somewhat disappointing.

Backlog. Tap @ In De Wildeman. Black color. Dark beige head. Aroma’s: lovely roasted malts, ground coffee. Additionally some sweet fruit retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasted. Medium bodied. Fairly low carbonation. Finishes with lots of roast and light bitterness. Lovely.

Bottle 330 ml into a snifter, ABV 8.8% Totally black in colour, with one finger of brown head on top, with good density. Good retention too, leaves foam islands on the surface and light lacing around the glass. Aroma of chocolate, alcohol, vanilla, sweet cocoa. Taste begins sweet with somewhat milky chocolate, light alcohol notes, finishes with roasted malts and a light bitterness, while on the aftertaste chocolate comes forward again. Medium thick body, good carbonation, maybe a notch too high, but in no case annoying. Overall a more than good imperial stout

Pitch black color, almost green brown head color. Sweet cocoa nibs, roasted malts. Sweet, malt, but feel the mouth isn’t so balanced and lacks interest.

Bottle at Dean’s stickiest floor tasting. Pours a pitch black beer with a thin beige head on top. Aroma has light molasses and caramel. Flavor and mouthfeel are very thin for an Imperial stout. Could be far heavier. Medium sweet with a sharp, hoppy bite in the middle. Decent brew, but could use more intense flavors I guess.

Bottle at Deano’s monthly tasting, September 2013. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is yeasty with some sour citrus notes. The flavour is weak sour with a dry yeasty malty flavour. Nice but not that nice.
