4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Plaas (71) - Alkmaar, NETHERLANDS - SEP 8, 2012
Easy going but really great stout. Just wat a stout should be. Lots of chocolate, coffee, liquorice, resins. Roasty, malty, deep. I don’t know wether this is a good tribute to the original Van Vollenhoven Stout, but it certainly is a tribute to the style.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 erickok (2280) - Tours, FRANCE - MAY 7, 2012
Pitch black body, tan head. Creamy aroma, butterscotch, macaroons, light coffee. Medium full body, pretty smooth and with a mild carbonation. Good, even fierce amount of hop bitterness over the inherit roasted malt aroma. Sticky ending. Classic feel to this beer. Good amount of flavour for the ABV. Really nice actually. (33cl bottle, cheap)
