3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 3fourths (6958) - Vilnius, - JUN 7, 2006UPDATED: AUG 8, 2007 33cl bottle, 2006 Vintage
Consumed at ‘t Arendsnest, Amsterdam, May 2006 Very carbonated, very sweet tripel-like flavor of anise with more coriander in the nose. Lemon grass, anise and oranges dominate the palate, and it ends with a sweet, starchy, finish. Thoroughly enjoyable. Appeared like a witbier, quite cloudy, but was sampled in a dark beer café.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 22, 2010
From bottle (2005 vintage) at the Great British Beer Festival, 3 August 2006. Very murky brown colour, probably stirred up by the huge carbonation. Pleasant fruity aroma with plenty of orange and maybe a little apple. Some yeast and estery green fruit -apples and pears - in the flavour. Rather gassy, chalky, carbonic on the palate. Seemed to be a decent beer lurking here but way too gassy.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 RichardGretton (4020) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2006
Bottle. Golden coloured beer with a strong head. The aroma is mildly spiced and the flavour is mulled dry winter fruits. Overall a nice mulled beer.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 leaparsons (7074) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 25, 2006
Bottle. Cloudy orange with an off-white head. Aromas are floral and yeasty with lemon, vanilla and pepper. Plenty of alcohol. Flavours are fruity and zesty with yeast and vanilla. Bitter on the finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 kook (2033) - Perth, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA - SEP 6, 2006
Bottle (GBBF 2006): Warming alcohol in the nose. Quite high carbonation. Cloudy gold with a large white head. Yeasty vanilla and spice in flavour, with a touch of berry. Not bad.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 harrisoni (10911) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 15, 2006
Bottle at GBBF 2006. Cloudy old gold colour with thick off white head. Yeasty, woody aroma. Oddly sweet. Very carbonated. Rich citrus fruits. More yeast. Bit too sweet and over the top for me.
2.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 maeib (7557) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 9, 2006
Bottled – GBBF. A very murky copper colouree beer with a whitish head. The aroma is yeasty and lemony with good funky fruits. The taste is fruity and sweet, but there is WAY too much carbonation making it an absolute strugglt to enjoy. The flavour are masked by the cacophony of noise going on in the mouth. Ooh.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 thebeertourist (4271) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 11, 2006
I managed to spot some hazy golden beer under that enormous, persistent white head. Lots of sweet fruit in the aroma, with apple, pineapple as well bubbegum springing to mind. Sweet fruity flavours, with apple, but also darker fruits and palm sugar. It gets well-balanced in the end with an appetizing dryness. Warming alcohol. Good carbonation and full-bodied. De Schans is at least one Dutch (micro-)brewery that consistently impresses.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hunsell (400) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - APR 6, 2006
Cloudy light-orange coloured beer with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma is yeasty and fruity, apple and pineapple. Underlying alcohol in the nose as well. Sweet fruity taste of citrusfruits and apple. High level of carbonation. Slightly syrupy, but the carbonation seems to cover it a bit. Definately warming, alcohol shows up in the end. Another quality-brew from de Schans, a blond winterbeer, in the style of Avec les Bons Voeux. Just a bit overcarbonated.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 skortila (4166) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - JAN 23, 2006
PRZH Winterbierfestival. Aroma of yeast, some hops, citrus and pineapple. Cloudy, yellow-orange coloured with a perfect white lace. Yeasty, citric taste. Carbonation. Bitter finish. Medium body. Decent beer. Not as good as the 2004 winterbeer.
