2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 JonR888710 (999) - Cochabamba, BOLIVIA - JUN 25, 2004
Sampled this after the Cascade 4 seasons autumn and experienced a most rare phenomenon. Perhaps I needed to wash my palate, but as there was no water available I couldn’t. I sampled this lager and tasted nothing but chicken broth and onions. Just like mom’s chicken soup in a bottle, even with hints of carrots and celery. Weird!?! I have to give this beer a slight benefit of the doubt since it was not its fault I didnt drink it first and also because I will not be able to retest it until I go back to Australia. This rating will have to do for now.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bluevegie (3004) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 20, 2004
Slightly hazy orangey/golden colour with a medium size white head. Grainy aroma. Taste was good, more malt,a touch of citrus, some banana at the end and a good mouthfeel.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Filthmuppet (33) - Newtown, AUSTRALIA - MAY 10, 2004
What a solid around larger! Nice clear golden apperence. Looks inviting in the glass and doesn’t dissapoint on the palate. Light subtle fruitness with smooth munich malt taste. Just the thing for a sunday afternoon. Prefer it the the bock as it just a lttle more novel. Wouldnt say it breaks the mold, just a bit surprising.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Spiesy (2338) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - MAY 3, 2004
Draught, at the Australian Hotel, Sydney. Golden with a nice smooth fluffy white head. Feral organic larger aroma with honey and rustic hop notes. Some smooth, lightly roasted malt notes as well. A good drop that I wish I could have had more of but the volume of choice was against me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Spanner (60) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - FEB 3, 2004
A one-month shelf life? No worries there. A cloudy and tasty drop, and if youre ever in Sydney, swing by the Australian Hotel and you can get it on tap. Mother's milk!
Spanner.

3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mullet (849) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 15, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2005 Aroma is dominated by an objectionably high level of diacetyl. Appearance is very clear (despite not being filtered) and a beautiful gold colour with reasonable (not great) head retention. Good strong malt presence and mouthfeel, could do with more hops (especially bitterness). Really enjoyable beer if you block your nose! RR: Geez, it’s been a long time since I’ve had a good Scharers. I know they’re pretty inconsistent but still. Perilously close to dropping quite a way down the scale.
