Bottle @home. Slight Golden haze. Nutty dusty notes. Bread. Malty Wheat bread taste. Dry with a sweet background. Fine, maybe a bit onedimensional.

Draught@Gollem Antwerpen, 08/2014. I hope it was just a strange coincidence and not the house pipes, as all other beers that night tasted crisp and fresh, but this was the 2nd new wave golden ale/abbey tripel that was dominated by canned pineapple and peach sweetness, well-rounded, but taking hostage all other potential yeast notes and hop spice. Layers upon mellifluous layers of golden honey syrup and pineapple marmelade, with no bare trace of alcohol, complexity nor edge of bitterness. Odd one trick pony - Must revisit bottled.

Caramel taste and aroma the same. Good body and average foam. Ringed foam. Not some special.

Alengrin (3401) - BELGIUM - AUG 8, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2014 Tasted years ago when this brewery was still in the Netherlands and more recently after its relocation to Belgium; this beer does not seem to have changed very much. Off-white, moussy, stable head, colour misty peach blonde, strong fruity aroma, spices too, hints of orange, pear, vanilla, gin, coriander, banana, ginger, honey, cardamom. Fruity taste with some curaçao freshness, medium carbonation, spicy notes, sweetish malts (caramel, honey), finishing in a floral hoppiness but, both in the old and the new version, primarily a wodka- or gin-like, bit wry, long-stretching and - at least to my personal taste - disturbing alcohol.

Golden colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of sweet malts with fruity notes (citrus, banana, apricot). Light bitter finish. Good tripel.

Kauge (760) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 30, 2014
Bottle from Pothole in Tallinn (€ 3,20), July 2014. Pours a very pale, hazy amber with a huge, frothy white top. Nose is yeasty-malty. Doughy and spicy (coriander) characters most noticeable at first, then more sweeter and fruitier aspects come to the fore. The fruitiness is not so straightforward, more like warm cinnamon-covered apple cake, or when it’s warmer, some fruits just about to rot. A hint of alcohol also detectable. Taste is similarily malty and yeasty: it’s sweet and sour, biscuity and fruity (as in compote, not fresh fruits). Very smooth palate, soft mouthfeel with low to medium carbonation. Refreshing despite the high 8 % ABV. Dry, grainy (somewhat bitterish even?) finish with a zing of alcohol there too. P.S. What’s with the label? - a crab biting the toe of a ’caveman’ on a beach covered in bottles...

Bygers (1006) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 17, 2014
Bottle 0,33l. Pours an amber-gold in glass and leaves a small head. Nose is very florally, and french bread. Taste runs sweet, alcohol with peach, apricot notes and herbs. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
