COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Ruiter (Hop Rider) has a full, almost rustic malt body, and pairs Belgian yeast-driven flavors with American assertive hoppiness. It is dry hopped, with two noble varieties which add complexity, delicacy and a bit of funk.

Sampled from bottle at PIB, pours cloudy pale yellow with a thick white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, barnyard funk, some citrus and lemon zest. Flavour of Belgian yeast, funk and lemon zest. Palate is a little thin - nice flavours though. Slighty dry.

Aromas: (Malt) Bread (Hops) Slight perfume, herbal, slight orange. (Yeast) Soap, cheese (thatís new for me), leaves, earthy. (Others) Cloves & honey. Appearance: Pale/golden, hazy/cloudy, small white frothy head. Taste: Medium bitterness, light sourness, little sweetness. Short light bitter finish. Mouthfeel: LIght, thin slightly slick, soft carbonation with a bitter finish. My first impression after pouring it (750 ml) was the floating íclodsí of yeast... a great sign in any Belgian. Iím amazed by the "American-ness" of this Tripel. Someone elseís review also mentioned the Saison-type tastes in this one as well. Iím loving the perfect hoppiness that accompanies the sweet, dry yeasty-ness. Itís a supergreat American-Hoppy Belgian Belgian Tripel. I like Belgians a bit, but not my favorite. This, though, is a great Belgian.

Sampled on tap at PIB, pours cloudy yellow with a big white head. Aroma of lots of yeast, big barnyard funk, some citrus (although subdued) and a little lemon zest - reminiscent of a saison. Flavour is also quite yeasty, with some funkiness and lemon zest. A little thin and watery, with a dry finish. Solid.

750 from Moís in Fairfield. Very pale gold/yellow with nice head and lace. Aroma of lemon/citrus clove banana. Very mild fruity sweetness honey apricot banana with citrus herbal hop and classic Belgian umami (?). Very much a classic Belgian earthy yeast undertone to a nice crisp complex golden strong ale. Excellent.

Bottle from Dorothy Lane. Very nice triple, sweet, but the Belgian Yeast is not so dominant and the hops are well balance, which often times goes wrong in the hopped triple. Golden color, nice frothy head and thirst quenching

Pour is a hazy gold with a large white head. Aroma is a very nice floral hop with some Belgian yeast and fruit. Flavor is a decent hop bite with some pineapple fruityness. Finish has some wheat malt with a nice sweetness. Alcohol does not show itself. This is a tasty beer to enjoy on a summer afternoon.

Draft at Hop Leaf. Pours a hazy yellow with a sticky white head. The nose is very pilsy with that being the predominant note, followed by noble hops and some plasticy phenols. Quite a strange combo, but it grows on me over time. Distinct citrus components from both yeast and hops. On taste, nice smooth bitterness and spicy. Creamy body with enough dryness to tie it all together. Pretty interesting beer.

On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a small white head leaving thick foam. Hoppy and grassy aroma with Belgian yeast and some lemon/citrus notes. The flavor is surprisingly big, with a pale malt base, Belgian yeast, and huge floral and light fruity notes. Medium-plus bodied with average carbonation. On the dry side. A solid dry hopped tripel. Different.
