Hop Ruiter (Hop Rider) has a full, almost rustic malt body, and pairs Belgian yeast-driven flavors with American assertive hoppiness. It is dry hopped, with two noble varieties which add complexity, delicacy and a bit of funk.

Notes: Pours a pale hazy yellow. Nose of dusty, dry yeast, mild table sugar sweetness, and a good sharp citrus hop kick. Flavor follows- grapefruit and lemon citrus hop notes and bitterness sit on top of a mild, restrained sweet body. Sweetness blends well with musty dry yeast character. Sharp bitterness. Very dry and clean on the palate and finish. Overall, a great example of a hoppy belgian pale.

750 ml. Cloud golden body. Frothy white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of citrus, flowers, herbs. Hints of toasted grain, apple, pepper. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium to full body, smooth texture and lively carbonation. Hop-forward beer. Tart citrus, floral notes. Sweet malt backbone along with some earthy and biscuit malt notes in the taste. Long, bitter finish with some lemon and floral notes. Enjoyable beer.

On keg at t’Waagstuk. Pours a cloudy blonde colour with a thick white head. Awesome hoppy aroma of pine, passion fruit and grapefruit with barley and caramel malt notes. Flavours of passion fruit upfront with some pineapple also. A little sweet but great balance between the hops and the candy sugar, barley and caramel tripel characteristics. Mild carbonation and CO2 prickle. Chewy mouth-feel with a long hoppy, caramel linger. Mild bitterness and a little dry to finish also. Very well done.

750ml bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours cloudy golden with a thick, lacy, white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, floral hops, and caramel and bread malts. The flavor is hoppier than most tripels, but not too hoppy. Average texture. A good tripel, but I still want more hops.

A hazed blonde ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a smooth herbal malt with light catty hops. In mouth, a sweet powdery and perfumey malt with light talcum notes, smooth and clean. On tap at Belgian Beer Fest, Sept. 10 2011.

750 ml bottle. Grassy hoppy nose with a sweet musty aroma. Pours yellow gold with a thin white head. Bitter grassy notes upfront with sweet sugary notes immediately following with a bitter citrus note following to a little funk in the finish, finishes a little herbal and minty. Pretty nice.
