COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Ruiter (Hop Rider) has a full, almost rustic malt body, and pairs Belgian yeast-driven flavors with American assertive hoppiness. It is dry hopped, with two noble varieties which add complexity, delicacy and a bit of funk.

On tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Light yellow in colour with a billowing head. Yeasty Belgian and yet also hoppy aroma, smells fantastic. It’s a hoppy Belgian ale, very floral with a decent lengthy finish. Enjoyable and very drinkable.

Serving: Bottle. Hazy dark amber pour with a frothy off white head. Dusty nose with a little sweetness, yeast, and grass. Light florals, yeast, and grass on the tongue. A little sweet on the front end but dry and dusty on the back end. I was surprised to see it is 8.5% as it drinks much lighter. Good stuff.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a golden/blonde color and a nice large white head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is very hoppy, with tones of malts, spring flowers, citrus and a lot of hops. The taste is malty and a little sweet with tones from the citrus fruits to change in a hoppy bitterness which could have been a little stronger. The finish is light bitter and dry but also a little watery. Overal a pretty good beer. Not my favorite hop beer but it’s not bad at all.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with visible sediment and a large bubbly white head that laces slightly and dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has lots of grain with some grass, light citrus and a bit of underlying earthy Belgian yeast. Flavor combines sweet citrus, a bit of grass and sweet grains nicely with a Belgian yeast backing.

Op de tap bij de 3 dorstige herten. Gele kleur. Witte volle schuimkraag. Eerste smaakimpressie : kruidig, hop. Lijkt een beetje op een Heineken? Waterige afdronk.

One of Scheldebrouwerij’s creations after their move from the Netherlands to Belgium. Rocky, off-white head, cloudy ochre blonde colour. Aroma of orange peel, pear, cheese, grapefruit, yeast, straw, white candi sugar and a hint of parsley. Lightly sweetish onset, yeasty, some bubblegum, mellow maltiness, citrus accents, creamy mouthfeel and nice florally hoppy finish.

Bottled from Mitra, Baarn. Hazy golden colored, lots of chunks of yeast, lasting small white head. Fruity nose, mainly citrus, spices, hops, yeasty notes. Flavor is mainly malts and yeast, spices again with some hops, low on carbonation. Dangerously easy to drink. Definitely more a Belgian Strong Ale than an IPA, hops aren’t very pronounced. It actually tastes quite similar to their Mug Bitter, but then with a lot more alcohol. Interesting angle, and certainly tasty, but i think i’ll prefer a Mug Bitter over this one on almost every occasion.
