COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Ruiter (Hop Rider) has a full, almost rustic malt body, and pairs Belgian yeast-driven flavors with American assertive hoppiness. It is dry hopped, with two noble varieties which add complexity, delicacy and a bit of funk.

Draft in a taster at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a mostly clear gold with a small white head that settles quickly into a ring. Notes of bready and crackery malts, straw, cardboard, grass, and sugars. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty, dry mouthfeel. Seemed old, like a few years old. Not very hoppy. Not bad, but doesn’t live up to its reputation.

10oz on tap at Ei8ht Ball, during their import happy hour. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Fades to nothing. Get some old-hop aroma that I often get from belgian blonds on this one. Kind of musty, lightly spicy, hint of citrus, hint of belgian yeast, and that distinct old-hop flavor. For a blond ale, though, it does hide the 8.5% alcohol remarkably well. Don’t get as much sweet or sugariness than I’d expect for this ABV. Moderate sweet, light spiciness. Light bitter. Just a hint of lingering warmth in the late finish. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. OK belgian blond ale. The most impressive part of this is how well it hides the alcohol. Drinks like a 6.5% belgian blond ale. Don’t like the flavor and texture, though, can’t get past that distinct old hop aroma. Didn’t end up finishing my 10oz.. Tastes like a disctintly older keg... Not a fan of this.

Fles spoot open, waarvoor haretlijk dank. Restant bier: goudkleurig, ongefilterd. Ruikt zacht, hoppig, zeep. Smaakt goed, hoppig, beetje bitter.

0,33L bottle BB 06.2015. Pours slightly hazy amber with nice white head. The head stays for some time, thin white line to the end. Aroma is very sweet, yeast, hops, malt, flowery and soapy notes. Taste: is honey sweet and bitter, caramel, fruits and hops. Finish is dark chocolate bitter with lingering sweetness. Alcohol is well hidden for ABV. Overall: very nicely balanced better, sweetness and bitterness are in right harmony and manage to hide alcohol rather well.
