Brewed from pale and caramel malts and heavily hopped with Hersbracker and Saaz hops, this is a beer for the connoisseur, who does not shy away from a robust hoppiness. Its full, smooth flavor makes it an ideal session beer.

On tap at ’t Arendsnest. Clear golden with a small head. Fruity and sweet aroma. The taste is quite sweet, but with decent bitterness, witnessed by the dry finish. Well-made without being too complex. Enjoyable, though.

On draft at Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Oh, yeah, totally liked this one. The commercial description nails it. This could be one of those session beers that lands you in serious trouble due to it’s fine, smooth drinkability. This was about the time when we had worn out the welcome at this fine establishment. After crushing through an assortment of Dutch tripels and bocks, it was time to leave. This was the satisfying note that left me happy.

Bottle, 7%. Rough hop aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour, almost muddy. Small stable creamy white head. The flavour starts off with an OK maltiness, getting fruity and bready towards the finish.

‘t Arendsnest. Hazy flashy golden pour topped by a lasting, thick white head with full lacing. Yeasty, bready nose holding some banana esters and gentle apple undertones. Cakey sweetness in mouth. Slightly sugary, but remaining soft in its maltiness and faint in hops. Obvious pils malt, rather well extracted. Just a bit too sweet and simple triple.

Deep golden colour, lot of bubbles but not much head and it fades soon. No lace. Aroma of cake, apples, nuts, vanilla, cardamome, chocolate. Taste of cake, vanilla, fruits, figs, dates, complex. It’s very thick, you can almost bite it.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2007 Bottle. 33 cl, bought at Lyager Vin, Fredericia. Poured in a trappist glass. Quite clear orange, with a little thin white head. Aroma has barn, yeast, some oranges and a little ’wet dog’ maltiness. Flavour is surprisingly malty - reminding me very much of a Biere de Garde. There is a tone of exotic fruits in there - pineapple, apricot and oranges. Wet and grain-like sweet maltyness does dominate - the alcohol i not present until the very end, where it sits itself in my rear cheeks.
