Brewed from pale and caramel malts and heavily hopped with Hersbracker and Saaz hops, this is a beer for the connoisseur, who does not shy away from a robust hoppiness. Its full, smooth flavor makes it an ideal session beer.

(Bottled) Hazy orange-amber color with a smallish, lacy head. Sweet-toffeeish berry aroma with birch leaves and cardamom. Sweetish and grainy, slightly sour flavor of caramely toffee, flowery hops, and fruit. Medium-bodied, slightly sugary, soft,medium-carbonated palate. An enjoyable brew, although not the most complex one, with balanced sweetness.

(Dec 07) Big fizzy head early but settles quickly to leave a thin creamy cover. Lemon / orange in colour, slightly cloudy. Rich nose of fruity malts, very clean and well defined / balanced. Flavours don’t translate well due to what I perceive as excessive fizz on the palate although to be fair this did soften over 60 minutes or so.. More fruit / yeasty notes are trying to but through the bubbles but doesn’t really succeed. Finishes ok with a candied bubble-gum note. Doesn’t really distinguish itself from the pack although clearly a well made beer.

Hazy amber color; creamy head. The aroma is malty, with some spices; the flavor has some light malt and spices as well, quite dry, that makes of it a kind of Tripel, enjoyable but without impressing. A touch of vegetables taste.

Bottle 7% Slightly murky golden orange body with a good size, well lasting, white head. Fruity aroma at first then mainly yeast and spice. Taste doesn’t stand out or anything but drinks well , orange and apricot, smooth medium body.

Bottled (7%). Hazy amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, malty, caramellish and overall quite sweetish. Flavour is sour fruits, yeast, caramel, nectar. Very sweet but the yeast and some hops does balance it up to a pleasant and drinkable level. Some spicy notes in finish and aftertaste. Biting carbonation. Well balanced and good session beer.

Bottled, alc. 7% (BB 12/2006). Hazy nut brown, cloudy white head. Malty, a bit metallic nose. Grassy hoppy, fruity (apricot) - sweet. Tickling carbonation. Dutch version of Belgian ale, so it is typical very sweet.

[Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm] Cloudy golden, impressive head. Inviting aroma of lingonberries and almonds. Medium sweet with plenty of malt and soft mouthfeel. Fruity, estery and yeasty with mild caramelly malt flavour. Drier finish with some grassy hops. A thoroughky well made beer with good balance.

Light amber-golden colour, no carbonation and an average rocky head. Herby yeasty aroma, some light roasted malts, spices and grasses. Full sweet body. Finish is bitter-herby, little roasted with some light, sharper alcoholic touches and a fairly short finish. Lots of yeast!

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2007 Utobeer bottle. Murky orange, thanks to a host of swimming yummies, with a thin white head. Advised by my beer guide to pour gently, so as to avoid said yummies, but was too hasty. Hoppy nose with ginger and oranges in the mix. Thick, full body - perhaps down to the sediment. Surprisingly soft palate for the amount of carbonation streaming up. Quite malty and slightly spicy. Grapes, oranges and caramel make things super sweet. Dry finish, with a taste of peanut butter and walnuts. An odd assortment. Can’t quite figure out if it works or not. Strangely delicious stuff.
