3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Muddy dark reddish brown colour, off white head. Strong aroma of sweet dark malts, dark fruits like prunes and raisins, yeast (St.Bernardus-like), some candy sugar. Flavour is very malty, dark bread, rather sweet, dark fruits like figs and raisins, light yeasty, malty sweet and light nutty bitter finish. A bit thin toward the end, overall medium bodied. Nice strong ale, but just a bit too sweet imo.

Bottled. Deep reddish brown colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some slight alcohol, mild spices as well as some mild chocolaty notes. Flavour is being quite much the same, but the alcohol shows a bit better. Yet the alcohol fits in quite well

9 % and t.h.t. 6-2009
An older specimen of this beer bottled some 18 months earlier. Small head, coffee and dates (Phoenix dactylifera). Faint remains of hop aroma’s (Humulus lupulus) over stemmed by liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra root). I think I prefer this one a bit younger.
