Mug Bitter is a top fermented, amber-coloured beer of 5% ABY, made from pale malt and Caramalt 20 and richly hopped with Hallertau, Goldings and Challenger hops. The beer's character is best expressed in the old saying: "Geen smaeck zo soet als 't Zeeuwse Bitter doet" (Nothing tastes as sweet as the Bitter from Zeeland). Its hoppy and fruity aroma and well-balanced bittersweet flavour places this beer in a league of its own! Mug Bitter ... Much Better!

Clear golden beer with a with head, low carbonation. Taste is sweet fruity, some bitter hop and malty. Afthertaste is sweet and a some bitter.

Bottle 33cl. Yellow, nearly amber coloured with a loose white head. Aroma is accented with dry hops flavour. Taste is dry with a typical dry hop bitterness. Nothing like IPA though, because of the dry aftertaste. Not bad, but not easy either.

The beer has a beautiful bright orange color with a golden glow. The beer is a little cloudy. The beer pours A thick layer of white foam, which disappears quickly. The beer has a nice sweet aroma, it reminded me a little of la Trappe Blond, which is the biggest compliment there is. In my eyes La Trappe is the best beer brand in the world. The smell had a slight hint of what I thought to be malts. The taste was nice, very bitter. The beer has some nice hoppy tones. It had a mouth-filling sensation.

(Draught at Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels, 22 Oct 2014) Golden amber colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with grainy malt, bread and a touch of dried fruit. Malty, fruity taste with notes of grainy malt, apricots, hints of toast and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Tasty and highly drinkable. Quite nice.

Not an IPA, not a Blonde, this beer is bitter, hoppy but this has some sweet citrus tones. Awesome summer beer!

Tap. Clear golden with medium white head. Grassy and herbal bitterness with also some I ripe vegetables. Light sweet malts with dry eye touch. Medium bodied. Quite bitter but not too much else. Ok

Light amber with medium white creamy head. Simple but nice refreshing taste, strong remaining bitterness with citrus notes.

Bitter beer since 1988 for De Mug, at first brewed at ’t IJ but since 1997 at Scheldebrouwerij, when it was still settled in the Netherlands. Creamy, off-white head, murky ochre blonde colour with orange glow. Malty and yeasty character, pleasant fruitiness, bready and honeyish, but primarily grassy (Saaz) and peppery (Spalt) hops. Fruity, soft malty onset, making place for a very assertive, resinous, spicy, sticky, long hop bitterness. More a kind of session IPA than a traditional English bitter, as it is apparently classified here.

Aroma of malt, slight fruitiness, hops. Flavour is malty and light hoppy, with a bitter finish. Not bad.
