Commercial Description:
Mug Bitter is a top fermented, amber-coloured beer of 5% ABY, made from pale malt and Caramalt 20 and richly hopped with Hallertau, Goldings and Challenger hops. The beer's character is best expressed in the old saying: "Geen smaeck zo soet als 't Zeeuwse Bitter doet" (Nothing tastes as sweet as the Bitter from Zeeland). Its hoppy and fruity aroma and well-balanced bittersweet flavour places this beer in a league of its own! Mug Bitter ... Much Better!

Bottle. Pours a hazy deep golden colour. The aroma has spices, yeast, honey and soap. The flavour is sweet with some honey, spices, yeast, some fruits, bit malty and bitter.

Hugely active carbonation lives in this hazy light amber brew. Sparkler-like head, extremely lacy. Very floral nose where fair bitterness can be expected and will be delivered. Not very complex in malts though. Foamy palate, rather farmy feel really, crushed grains feel quite fresh while very little darker grains have been used, but the ensemble feels coherent enough.

Bottle at ØLbaren - Thanks to Jens for the taste (so I didn’t have to buy one myself). Unclear amber/golden - white head. Fruity, apples, mould (mug), dusty, yeasty, light metallic. Not my kind of beer !!!

Bottle. Deep golden color with a white head. Bland light sweet aroma. Sweet body with a light malty and fruity pattern. Light yeasty spices. Rather boring.

0.33 l bottle. Copper-amber color. Parfumy, phenolic, grainy, spicy and soapy aroma. Dryish and phenolic flavor with vanilla, tart fruitiness and woody bitterness.

Bottle, at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. Golden colour. Thin white head but lots of gas action. There’s a sharpness here but it seems to be more to do with acidity than bitterness. Some Belgian style yeasty elements too. Light and quite refreshing. Mouthfeel is a touch too fizzy for my taste.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour with a rich white foam. Grass, mild herbs, minerals and neutral yeast in the aroma. Grassy hops along with metal, yeast and spices in the somewhat light flavour. Short medium-bitter finish of wet grass and minerals.
