Commercial Description:
Mug Bitter is a top fermented, amber-coloured beer of 5% ABY, made from pale malt and Caramalt 20 and richly hopped with Hallertau, Goldings and Challenger hops. The beer's character is best expressed in the old saying: "Geen smaeck zo soet als 't Zeeuwse Bitter doet" (Nothing tastes as sweet as the Bitter from Zeeland). Its hoppy and fruity aroma and well-balanced bittersweet flavour places this beer in a league of its own! Mug Bitter ... Much Better!

33cl bottle: Nice white head that deflates quite rapidly on top of a peachy orange, slightly hazy, beer. Just hazy enough to be an unwanted haze. The head clings to the side of the glass as it dissapates. First aromas are of some litely grasy hops, amaretto cookies, faint banana, and some caramel malt. The almond fades quickly but doesn’t completely dissapear. This allows a spicy yeast aroma to take over. Dry enough and lively on the tongue. The carbonation helps the alcohol dive down your throat. "Aged" hops and sweet pale malts balance eachother reasonably well, but I could see this beer becoming sticker with warmth. Bitterness comes in the middle then fades into sweetness, only to return in a more grassy form at the end. It doesn’t suck.

from crackedkettle.com - clear golden-amber colour, little white head and a nice lace; aroma of hay and pineapple; slightly phenolic; very soft and regular palate, initially sweet with a long and fair bitterness; almost full-bodied; moderately dry and caramelish aftertaste - very pleasant

Bottle. Hazy pale golden and yellowish in colour with a rather large white head. Feels a bit sharp and moldty with notes of yeasts, caramel, grass and citrus. Not very well balanced.

Bottle. Slightly yeasty and sharp mouthfeel, but has some green, grassy hops in the finish, which probably, if anything, helps to balance that a little bit. Slightly gassy/fizzy in the finish.

A Mes rate: 33cl bottle from Quinns. Fairly plain spicy dutch blonde. A little watery in the palate only just made the score that it did.

Hazy orange-brown color, small but steady white head. Berries, honey, spelt or wood and yeast in the nose. Dry, woody and organic-like feeling in the flavor. Some bitterness which fades quickly. I supposed that this is an organic beer.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour (after pouring in the yeast), small white creamy head. Aroma is flowery hops with some caramel in it. Flavour is malts, flowery hops and some grass. Indeed a dry bitterish finish.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Clear golden, small creamy head. Flowery hop aroma. Some toffee and almondy Belgian yeast character. Dryish with clean mouthfeel and fairly light body. Some cookie malt. Think De Ranke XX Bitter, but lighter, more spritzy and more streamlined. Flowery bitter finish.
