Pours a dark brown color with a thin light brown head. Aroma of coacoa and some sweetness. Flavor of coacoa, sweetness and mild roasted malt. The body is light and creamy while the carbonation is moderate.

Bottle, Vilvordia fest. Dark brown beer with quick-fading light brown head. Geometric "Belgian" bubbles correctly forebodes lively, carbonated mouthfeel. Aroma is nice, chocolatey and a bit roasty. Well-rounded flavor, lightly bitter, finishing pretty dry. Very drinkable, but could do with more body.

(Bottle from Fat Cat, Norwich) Dark brown wih no head initially - although then one developed! Very bizarre. Still small mind. Smell was of roasted malt with vine fruits, grapes and a little salt. Chocolate too. Very appetising. Smooth coffeish taste with some chocolate, alcohol, sea water and wine like fruitiness. Roasted malt gives a good bitter sweet balance. Very drinkable despite 8.5%. The only thing that bothered me was the salty aftertaste that lingered for far too long. That was unpleasant. I got used to that though and besides a nice, rounded stout with some interesting flavours.

bottle, pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Cherry coke and dark fruity aroma. Full bodied, sweet roasted malt, honey and a briney light bitter finish. Carbonation is low. Not a bad stout, but too sweet to me.

Bottle. A really dark brown beer with a nice beige head. Beefstock, roasted malts, dried fruits and some alcohol in the aroma. The flavor is much the same, with more emphasis on the roasted malts, tending towards coffee. Also raisins and prunes, beef-stock and some alcohol. Coffee-like finish with bitterness of the same kind. Medium mouthfeel. A bit hard to describe, but really pleasant and complex. (081128)

Black with a red-brown hue. Aroma has plenty of malt and cocoa but also some alcohol. Raw alcohol flavour dominates at first but fades into bitter chocolate.
