An opaque brown beer with a beutiful beige head. The aroma is sweet with hints of sourness, prunes, and chocolate. The flavor is very complex on a background of sweet malt it combines prunes, raisins, chocolate, licorice to end on a nice bitterness from a good hop.

Alcoholic aroma with notes of pruels and chocolate. Flavor of chocolate and a bit of salty liquorice. Very smooth, soft texture with caramel. Palate of dry fruit. Dark cloudy brown color.

rauchbier (3610) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 10, 2003
Bottle conditioned. Jet black, good lasting beige head and good condition. Licorice and roast barley mingled with coffee in the nose, quite soft but full bodied and malty with lots more sweet licorice that lingers into the long finish, turning dry and roasty at the end. Deserving of wider attention, like most of the Scheldebrouwerij beers Ive tried.

caesar (5123) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - NOV 13, 2003
Very dark color, short but lasting brown head. Aroma is heavily of roasted malts, rye, licorice. Salty taste indeed, roasted malty ofcourse, very bready. Bitter palate.

Wow, surprised more people didn't like this one. Starts out with a cold milk chocolate aroma, like pulling a Hersey bar out of the freezer and sticking it up your nose, but pleasant in this beer. Very Dark brown in color, a little light for a stout but this beer was so good I can't complain. Very soft with an incredibly creamy chocolate charecter with roast comming at half time. Late bitterness with lots of flavor oozing from this one. Very enjoyable and made me think of Double Cream Stout

bierkoning (10208) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - APR 30, 2003
Roasty, salty aroma and flavor with coffee and chocolate. Sweet with some tropical fruit. Just a hint of apple sourness. Lovely stout, maybe a bit thin. Another good beer from the Scheldebrouwerij.

A really strange beer: dark brown colour, with a brown, persistent head. The taste is very complex: quite malty, a litlle bit of sweetness and (Urgh) salty. Not bad, but I wouldn't buy it again!

not a very stouty stout - lighter than a lot of porters. sort of a very dark red, but with stout-grade light brown head. quite salty, yeasty in a sweet round belgian way, with a bit of toffee and liquorice. bitter finish is hoppy rather than roasty. thick and smooth but not that exciting.
