Hey - I like this. The best of the Schelde beers I’ve had to date. Thick dark brown to look at, more meal that drink perhaps. Nose screams of oyster stout; sweet malts, funky, old fish oil, with a touch of vineagar. Aromas are faithfully replayed into the palate. Nice zinging oyster sauce / vinegar note. Feels lighter that the 8.5% labelled, and perhap more Belgian Ale than stout?

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown with a reddish hue and a dense off-white head. Aroma is what I now seem to sense as Scheldebrouwers yeasty with a touch of dried fruit and slight chalky. Very subdued light roasted. Flavour is mild and smooth chocolate malty with a touch of dried fruit. Nice lingering finish, somewhat simple but nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with a small head and an earth aroma with hints of caramel. The flavor has ripe fruits, smoke, caramel, coffee, dark choclate, some sourness and brown sugar. A very nice bitter finish. Nice beer!

(33cl bottle) Hazy, dark mahogany colour with a mid-sized, beige foamy head. Sweet and berry-fruity, slightly toasty malt aroma with hints of liquorice and a whiff of caramel. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter flavour, just medium bodied, soft on carbon. Toasty malty and fruity taste with notes of chocolate; moderately dry, bitter-sweet and slightly toasty and a bit slim, slightly spicy finish.

Poured a cloudy deep brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of sticky sweet malt with a touch of spice. It’s very sweet, verging on cloying. In fact more than verging, it is cloying. Quite full bodied, but too sweet. Wouldn’t pick this as a stout.
