Zeer donker bier met een weeïg aroma. Ook stroop in te herkennen. Beige schuimkraag, die geheel verdwijnt.

Aroma is malty, yeast, caramel, chocolate, licorice, cough drop. Appearance is dark brown with a big off-white head. Taste is sweet, light salt, medium bitter and with a long finish. Body is medium, texture is oily.

Bottle. Clear, mahogany brown. The massive head’s light beige with rather good retention and thick lacing. Chocolaty sweet on the nose with a certain Belgian spiciness and perhaps burnt caramel and dates. Sweet, very sweet, but it’s not an overly yucky sweetness, but rather refined and not smack in the face. Nougat? Toffee? Dates? Some alcohol detectable. Soft in the mouth, thin but active carbonation (accentuated by a herbal hoppy finish), smooth going, easy drinker. Medium, even low medium body. Comes off as slightly watery at some points. No way this is an Imperial Stout. What ever it is, it’s rather enjoyable. No oysters though :)

Aroma of chocolate and spices. Pours dar brown with tall tan head, which reduces to small in a little while. Taste is too sweet for me, with little booze. There is chocolate, some spices, low bitterness. Overall it is not an imperial stout at all. It is like a mix of imperial porter with dubbel.

A strong dark beer, more rich in taste then most other dark Belgian beers a good alternative to double beers. Slightly too sweet or a bit too much alcohol for the overall brew. Good to drink more often.

Bottle from Dranken Verheyen in Poppel. The beer is very dark brown and has a nice and stable cream colored head. The aroma is sweet with tones of caramal, nougat, raisins and a light bitterness with chocolate and a little alcohol. The taste is light to medium bodied, a little watery and with some tones of chocolate. Not a very good balance. The finish is dry and light bitter.

Bottle 33cl. Deep black with a medium off white head that is firm. Aroma of malts, chocolate, but there’s a flavour of the sea too. The taste is surprisingly sweet, not like stout at all. And again the aftertaste is sour. Nice!

Bottle at Liquid Bar in Luxembourg. It doesn’t look like an Imperial Stout, more like a porter with its dark brown liquid. I wonder why they wrote dark stout on this. Smell of dried fruit and caramel, also quite milky. Similar taste some chocolate and roasted aromas. Doesn’t feel like an imperial stout at all. More like a strong bruin, dubbel or other strong dark belgian ale. I didn’t rate this as a stout though.
