COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strandgaper is a real musselbeer. Its full, smooth malty flavor and refreshing bittersweet finish make it the ideal accompaniment to a mussel dish.

9/IV/13 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 12/2014 (2013-317) Thanks to Dimi for sharing the bottle!

Clear pale blond beer, huge creamy whtie head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: cheesy, coriander, orange peel, overripe banana, something off, can’t put my finger on it, but it smells bad. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: grains, orange peel, honey, quite bitter, grassy touch. Aftertaste: bitter, citrus, orange peel, sweet malts, honey, bit watery.

33cl bottle. Banana, citrus, grass in the nose. Blond, white head, sparkling, fading head. Slightly bitter taste, sweet, grassy, grain. Fizzy, waterish. Ok but not outstanding.

Douberd (2363) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - AUG 18, 2013
Bottle, 330 ml, poured into a tulip glass at home. ABV 6.2% Golden blond colour on the body, with bubbles rising to the surface from the center of the glass and climbing from the walls too. Snow white foam sitting on top, two fingers tall, with very good retention after it loses half its size. Heavy lacing left on the glass. On the aroma peaches, some malts and sugar, lighty yeasty. Taste follows the aroma, yeast, sugar, grains and lightly fruity with some alcohol notes as well. A bit too sweet but with nice aftertaste. Medium body, average carbonation. An okay belgian ale, the combination of alcohol and fruits on the aftertaste was its biggest feature.

Bottle: cloudy golden color. Head is not very stable and gone in a second. Aroma is very fresh and has grass and citrus. Taste is also fresh with citrus and herbs. Lively carbonation. Very refreshing and very good.

A Mes rate: Standard semi cloudy looks, head vanished almost instantly. Lemon malt and yeast nose. Lightly spiced and creamy. A touch bitter with a slightly dry finish. Aroma and flavour remind me of sand. Not in a bad way though. Makes me think of the beach for some reason.

Golden color. The aroma would be like the one of a classic Belgian Ale, but more malty. Smooth flavor, Belgian Ale as well, less dry than others. Harmless.

Stew41 (1736) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - JAN 10, 2008
This house has been solid without being spectacular, in my experience, and this beer doesn’t really buck the mold. The Strandgaper is built in what I like to think as an old-fashion Belgian style; stinky, cooked, daggy malts, stewed fruits on the nose, low hop input etc etc. Malt weight becomes progressively heavier through the palate but never gets over the top. Nose is a touch yeasty and biscuity, perhaps lacking freshness, but overall this beer is dependable.

Hazy gold honey hue, with an off-white head, yeasty, honeyed pale malt, with some pears and green apples fruitiness, with a faint vanilla spicy accent, a subtle floral hop aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, sweet grainy, honeyish pale malt character, with a fruity pear candyish note, with a faint flowery hop accent, leading towards a malty, fruity, lingering hop bitterness finish.
