3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle (Stockmann, Tallinn)
Starts a bit bready, but quickly veers in th direction of cake, even heading towards chocolate too and even some vanilla. Some sugary sweet esters, including banana, but alas some alcohol in the mix, but not boozy. A nice deep reddish brown, but a rather brief fizzy tan head. Palate remarkably thin, at least at this temperature - quite cold (6-7C?) - so I’ll take this slowly and let it warm up. Feels full though, but with the crisp carbonation it’s remarkably refreshing. It’s a little messy in the mouth, a touch earthy and dirty, some yeastiness is part of that. Fills out with more fruity esters as it warms, something quite appley or even cidery about it because of the alcohol that’s also there. Not grabbing me, too much alcohol, not enough good old fashioned bock fun.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazed brown body with a small tan head. Aromas are of dark fruits, raisins, grainy, bready, low melanoidins, and some caramel. Mostly malt. Flavors are of cereal, brown sugar, raisins, dark fruit, nutty, melanoidins. Low bitterness with a malt balance. Lively bubbles, medium bodied. A bit too fizzy for me. Decent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.33l bottle @ Braai Tapperij de Mug, Middelsburg. A cloudy deep brown one with a small heavy lacing off-white head. Smells dark malty, sweet, lots of dark dried fruits and some nice chocolate paper. Nice! It’s average to lively carbonated and it has a oily to sticky texture in the mouth. In the flavor I get a nice sweetness from dark malts, chocolate, dark caramel, fruits with a sharp boozy finish and aftertaste. This was a really nice one! 29.05.2012

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Ruikt naar hout, geiten, zoet, beetje wijnachtig, drop, dronkerbruin maar niet helder, heel licht bruine schuimkleur, te weinig koolzuur.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 9C. Dark brown with a fluffy beige head. Aroma of toffee and bread. Taste is sweet with caramel and some dark berries before a dry, slightly spicy finish. Quite carbonated - liked it more after a few swirls. Nice balance but a bit anonymous.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Small bottle. Medium to dark brown body. Medium head. Sweet aroma with some berries. Taste has cola, dark berries and some yeast. Probably too sweet for the style. Needs more hops in the finish and more toast. Too sweet and light - perhaps the name wildebok (wild bock?) prepared me for something strong and toasty but this is very tame.
