3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2011 Much darker than the average autumn bock - German or Belgian. Distinct (milk) chocolate notes, roasty, pecan, pine and a leaves. Even some cherry when warmed up. Interesting taste as well that is herby and spicy without being very sweet - or dry for that matter. Slightly too watery. Aftertaste isn’t a classic bock-like short sweetness either. Well carbonated. Another fine beer from this brewer although not as good as the others. (33cl bottle)
Update: stil impressed with it this time around; upped the ratings for that achievement. Also, palate didn’t seem that watery.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brown coloured, a beige head that should be bigger and hold better. Caramel, dark fruits, sweet, light hopped, malts and bread, decent spiced. Light roasted at both the smell and taste. Not bad.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Dark brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dark bread, dried fruit, raisins, molasses and spicy hops. Malty taste with caramel, raisins, prunes, dried fruit, dark bread, brown sugar and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, quite sweet. A touch too sweet, but tasty and quite nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer pours a muddy, opaque dark brown color with a light tan, moderately full, foamy head which is almost fully lasting, leaving a dense froth throughout and thick lace. The nose is very nice and simple, toasty caramel, toasted dark bread, walnut, light date, and a hint of mild coffee. The flavor is similar with less nutty notes than the nose; nutty notes sit behind lots of date, some toasted dark bread, sweet and toasted caramel, a hint of chicory, and still a light mild coffee presence. The palate is soft to lively, round and silky, and medium to full. The beer finishes fairly long and still mostly sweet until the very end where the coffee, chicory, and still the nuttiness remain on the tongue. A very well put together bock-type ale from Belgium with virtually nothing bad to say. I am surprised how well it held up being shipped from Europe without refrigeration and only at 6.5%. It could be my bias towards Belgian beers over German but I prefer this to many German-style bocks. Looking forward to more beers from this brewer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. A hazy, copper colored beer with a small, offwhite head. Dried fruits, prunes mostly, caramel and some alcohol on the nose. The flavor follows the same path with caramel, dried fruits and a little warming alcohol touch. A bit thin on the palate, considering the style at least. A decent one that doesn’t impress in any way. 101015

Flaske: Rødbrun uklar øl med et fint skumhoved. Duften er maltet med en smule gær. Smagen er let bruin med en kende surhed. Det er en udmærket øl, men bestemt ikke mere.
