Commercial Description:
Witheer of Middelburg is produced on the base of a special historic recipe, which includes wheat and oatmalt, apart from the traditional barleymalts. These grains make the beer both tender and lively and the aromatic Spalt hop gives the beer a lightly bitter accent.

Bottle, 5%. Quite spicy and teaish aroma, distinct coriander notes. Hazy yellow colour. Small stable white head. Well-flavoured, slightly sweet, good coriander notes, a little bitterness and a hint of yeast.

Bottled. Hazy pale yellowish orange colour with mediumsized longlasting white head. Caramel, wheat and coriander in the nose. Flavour is wheat, citrus fruit and some spices. Good witbier to drench your thirst with.

Hazy pale orange color, creamy steady white head. Banana and coriander in the nose. Soft, light palate. Wheat, coriander and orange peel in the flavor. Nothing special, but quite refreshing summer drink type of beer. Beer to drink at terrace when temperature is reaching +35c.

Honeyaroma. Sweet, yeasty, sugary flavor with grapes. The yeastiness overpowers the other flavors. A later sample, well matured, convinced a bit more. Almost clear, blonde with a touch of orange, no foam, Orange with a touch of lemon and traubenzucker. Friendly witbier.

Bottle. Unlike your normal witbier. Ths is a bit spicier, with a darker wheat character. I thought this was pretty tasty none-the-less. Slightly honeyed character. Nobbad.

Big bubbles to disparate white head over hazy orange beer. Faint spicy & wheaty nose. Lots of citrus, citrusproducts, perfumey. Again citrus & spices (coriander, paradise seed, peppery). But generally speaking low-profile and watery. Very heavily carbonated, spritzy, even CO² acidity, like a sof drink/pop. Hmm. Nothing wrong, but VERY lame.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, golden colour with a short foamy white head. Rather discreet aroma of bready and slightly wheaty malt and a light citrus-fruity touch. Sourish and bitter flavour with a late arriving sweetness, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Poor wheat-character with notes of sourish citrus and lemon, leading into a slightly tart and spicy finish. Pretty disappointing (16.III.09).
