COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1984, Schell’s brewed the first wheat beer in America since prohibition-a filtered German-style wheat beer called Schell’s Weiss Beer. It’s light and dry with a citric tartness.

12 oz. bottle from 12 pack sampler. Pours a hazy amber with a white head. Aroma has citrus wheat some light pepper scents. Taste has a subtle bitterness and citrus notes along with solid malt/wheat flavors. Palate is thin chalky and drying. Pretty flavorfull and I dig it.

Pours a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma is phenolic, yeasty, clove, banana and slight grain and lemon. Taste is the same with a slight tartness to the lemon. Dry and crisp finish, light body. Tasty brew

Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours clear with a very large meringue like white head.

The aroma is light, it’s certainly spice forward with a good clove character. The fruitiness of lemons and bananas are also featured.

The flavor is fairly dry and light with a mild bitterness. Much of the spiciness is well retained along with a mild fruitiness. There is also just a touch of smoky phenolic character going on here.

The palate is lively and light.

Light yellow body foamy thick white head. Metallic slightly sweet aroma. Taste is a little bit banana and spices, but it’s really pretty faint like a whipping cream watered down. A touch of tartness. I’m looking forward to trying the hefeweizen as the kristall was a bit weak for my liking. Still, not too bad.

A really nice beer. Pours a light yellow with aromas of sweet banana and bread. Flavors are banana, tart lemon, and some funk. Interesting and tasty brew.

Bottle. Pours a light cloudy hue with a thin white head. Nose is somewhat spicey, somewhat barnyard and a little apricot. Taste is light, grainy, cloves, peppery, some banana and an interesting barnyard funk to it. Mouthfeel is medium with light carbonation. Different take on a hef, not bad, but nothing to go home about. Not bad for 1984... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours clear - thin white head. Nose is slightly spicey wheat. Flavor is mild, grainy w/ touches of barnyard funk (surprisingly). Some mild citrus notes in the finish and even some mild banana. I like it - although not to style for a kristalweizen, a somewhat complex U.S. wheat ale.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2014 This is not very good, which is what I would expect of beers produced in 1984. Some light banana and clove in the flavor, but virtually no flavor. Thin, watery palate, low carbonation. I understand their "30 year" theme, and it is interesting to try these old recipes.
