3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Rich copper colour, foamy pond scum head. Strong citrus aroma with warming clove backbone. Hops overpower the malt, I was looking forward to a bit more malt profile but this is decent nonetheless.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle as an extra in a trade with fidelis83- thanks again, Jeremiah! Pours a mostly clear amber with a big off-white head that leaves some light and sloppy lacing in the glass. Aroma of toast, grass, citrus, tea, banana, cardboard, and musk. Flavor of wet leaves, cardboard, grass, tea, citrus, floral hops, caramel malts, and rainwater. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a wet, leafy mouthfeel. Not bad, but this one just isn’t doing it for me. Though I have to admit I dig the grandpa beer-style label.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear amber with a medium tan topper and a swatch of lace. Aroma of pale and bready malts, citrus, mild noble hops. Taste of spicy hops and pale malt with some citrus and floral qualities. A bit on the sudsier side and notes of bitterness on the back end.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a darkish gold with a thin yet dense head and aromas of pale malt, herbal hops and a bit of apple. Flavor starts alright enough, but then a bit of a metallic bite takes over, spiraling the whole thing into a herbal/metallic/medicinal tailspin. It seems to recover just a bit as it sits/breathes/warms, but it’s a little rough around the edges.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
aroma was a zesty hop malt aroma but this penny aroma starts to come through, thought it might be my glass but the remaining beer in the bottle smelled the same. Taste was a balance of sweeter malts and grainy hops, finishes with that tinny flavor, not awful, but not good enough to be a 150 Anniversary

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear light amber with a decent head and some lacing, the aroma is of some sweet malt and bread mixed in with metal, the flavor is sweet but has a metallic finish, decent brew just nothing special.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul, MN. I don’t have much experience with this style of beer, so this is a bit of a blind comparison. This is an average-looking beer that morphs between a pale amber and a gannet and doesn’t have much for the nose (some bready/stale smelling malts and a hint of earthy hops). The balance in the mouth is off -- it vacillates between an over-bold carbonation and a dull flatness (I won’t venture any explanations) -- and it left me feeling nonplussed. The flavor was the same way -- sometimes it would be a really rich, buttery, and pretty tasty bready malt and other times it would taste stale, prickly, and old. I feel like they tried to do too much here and ended up with less -- perhaps if the focus had been on the "elegant" Pilsner and "malt backbone" this one would turn out better; instead, it just seems a bit confused and sheepish, simply following the American hop crazed shepherd.
