Schellís Arminius is named after the legendary chieftain of the Germanic Cheruscan tribe better known as Herman the German. Arminiusí united coalition of Germanic tribes famously defeated the Roman army some 2,000 years ago, and permanently established the border of Germany, which still exists today. The Herman Heights Monument, which sits atop the hill in New Ulm, overlooks the town and Minnesota River Valley below. His eastward looking gaze and upraised sword signify freedom from Rome. Schellís Arminius is a showcase of a unique blend of German, French, and American hops. Itís brewed with over 2.5 lbs of hops per barrel, and double dry hopped for a distinctly hoppy lager with wonderfully fruity and floral hop aroma. A clean malt bill combines with the crisp, smoothness that can only be achieved from a traditionally krausened lager, providing the perfect platform to highlight the hop character. Distinctively different, distinctively hoppy. Keep cold & drink fresh.

Can. Pours a nice clear gold with white head. Honey, biscuit, sweet hops. Great for the style, incredibly drinkable.

Had this one last summer from a can out in the sun. Decent stonger lager here.

12/27/14. 16oz can from a QC Hy Vee. Golden pour with a small off-white head, minimal lacing. Sweet, floral aroma, perfumey, a touch fruity, grainy. Sweet, malty flavor, doughy, fruity, floral and perfumey. Not good. I was really hoping this would be a great, cheap brew, but I was very disappointed.

Sampled at multiple locations (eg: ABR 2014, Prairie Home Compansion 40th Anniversary, etc.) pours a clear golden pale colored brew with a thick off-white head that slowly disappears with a spotty lacing. Aroma of grassy and fruit hops, golden grain malt and a touch floral. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of fruity esters, golden grain malt, and floral presence. Finish is semi-sweet, a little extra malt with plenty of floral hop aftertaste with a lingering mild bitterness.

Nice golden color, two finger white fluffy head. Smells of fruity hops, clean and refreshing with a nice fruity ness. Get a little of that graininess typical in lagers in the back of the mouth, be good one in the summer.

Pours clear gold with a fine white head. Aroma is hoppy and biscuit. Flavour is very thick and malty with a medium body. Finish is alcohol warm, slightly dry. Too much alcohol for the otherwise very subtle beer.

Can. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has a good amount of straw and sweet grains with a hint of biscuit and a strong grass backbone. Flavor starts sweet with biscuit and grains but has a nice growing grass hop note.

Well this is a good brew. Nice hop aroma and really well balanced. Itís lighter overall and feel like it would be great on a warm summer day outside. Floral but a bit of citrus and no resin. Tasty overall!

16oz can. Pours pale yellow with white medium head that lingers a reasonable time. Hop aroma floral. Hop taste prominent but not overpowering. Balance is very good. Nice beer!

Tap at New Bohemia. Smallish pint glass. Pale golden color with half finger of head. Not a lot of aroma...maybe a hint of hops. Taste reminds me of a double IPA with some slight sweetness but prevailing hops and funkiness. Alcohol presence is felt but not a strong negative. Pretty solid if unspectacular.
