Schellís Arminius is named after the legendary chieftain of the Germanic Cheruscan tribe better known as Herman the German. Arminiusí united coalition of Germanic tribes famously defeated the Roman army some 2,000 years ago, and permanently established the border of Germany, which still exists today. The Herman Heights Monument, which sits atop the hill in New Ulm, overlooks the town and Minnesota River Valley below. His eastward looking gaze and upraised sword signify freedom from Rome. Schellís Arminius is a showcase of a unique blend of German, French, and American hops. Itís brewed with over 2.5 lbs of hops per barrel, and double dry hopped for a distinctly hoppy lager with wonderfully fruity and floral hop aroma. A clean malt bill combines with the crisp, smoothness that can only be achieved from a traditionally krausened lager, providing the perfect platform to highlight the hop character. Distinctively different, distinctively hoppy. Keep cold & drink fresh.

Aroma is yeast, floral hops and a mild hint of funk. The flavor is citrus, fruit, pale malts, hops, slightly funky and a tart/slight esters in the finish.

An unusual beer hard to shoehorn into any style. I almost want to call it a Czech pils, but it doesnít fit there. it seems they used an entirely ordinary yellow lager and hopped the hell out of it, and the result is an excellent beer. Lots of citrus and dry bitter hop flavors and aroma. Some earth, and a quick finish.

Can, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours a very pale yellow with a medium sized head and decent lacing on the glass.

The aroma is distinctly similar to that lightly sweet/blueberry thing thatís going on in Grain Belt, except without any of the corniness, this is of course totally fine with me in every way. Itís certainly got some herbal and grassy happiness in there as well.

The flavor is nice, again with the blueberries... which is chill. Itís lightly sweet with a nice herbal bitterness, some fruity hop character, and some light grassiness. Overall though itís not overbearing in any way, just nice and hop forward without entering the IPL realm really.

Cool beer.

Pour out of 16 oz can, hazy orange-yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grass, floral, pine, some hints of biscuit, bread, slight yeast, touch of grainy notes. Taste is a mix of honey, grass, white fruit, some orange, pine into biscuit, finishing slightly sweet, slightly bitter.

Tap. Clear light yellow pour, 1/2 inch head and an aroma of nice mild malt and subtle light fruit. Flavor is also nice and malty rich & pleasantly sweet mild hops on the finish. Iíll be back for more of this for sure.

Can, pours a clear gold body with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts, a bit of corn and grains, and some light citrus hops and tropical fruit. Smooth and drinkable. An oddly sweet-ish taste with some grapefruit hoppiness.

(can) Pours a clear gold color with a fluffy white head that quickly settles to a medium cap. Aroma right away showcases that characteristic tin-like lager yeast character Schell is known for in my book. The tin yields a canned salmon quality to the beverage and its accompanied by some Butter Kernel creamed corn to liven the mix and transport this to childhood Sunday supper territory real quick. These arenít the only aromatic qualities, and, luckily, these aromas fade a bit and are replaced by a faint tropical scent that is reminiscent of papaya or guava. These scents only intensify and thankfully toss the salmon and corn curbside. Haribo gummi bears join the party to increase the oddness factor. Kind of liking this the more it warms. The flavor is fairly standard lager fare, with little emphasis on the grain (wouldíve liked more) and a crispness on the finish that quickly shears off the tease of juicy hoppiness that began to amp up in the mid. Really wouldíve liked the hops to linger on the finish; instead theyíre replaced by a semi-dry mineral crispness that elicits shades of Mendota Sparkling. Faint hint of pale malt in the far, far finish. Mouthfeel is medium and carb is appropriate. Overall not a bad lager, but needs some fine tuning, imo.

Tap at #incahootsmpls. Clear rich yellow gold pour with a small white head. Grain, some apple sweetness, nice hop edge. Solid.
