COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This legendary beer style has a richness of history to match its rich flavor. The beer was named in Einbeck, Germany during a city celebration where the strong dark beer was being served. It seems that a bock (the German word for goat) entered the grounds unseen. Soon after, one of the villagers was knocked to the ground. The bock was standing nearby and to this day it is still unclear whether it was the beer, or the bock, which leveled the villager.
Ingredients: Pale, Caramel, Cara Pils and Black malts, imported Hallertau and domestic Cascade hops.
Available January through April.

Pours a reddish copper color with a good sized tan head, mostly dissipating. Nose is malt. Nice and creamy on the palate, this bock has a sweet flavor of caramel wrapped around the malt flavor. Tastes more like a dopplebock than a bock. Very good beer- pairs well with brats off the grill.

Pours a nice reddish brown color with off-white head. Roasted malts all over the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some caramel malt.

Draft at Stouts Pub. Dark amber pour with a slight off white head. Malty nose. Big malty beer with just a hint of bitterness in the finish and slightly sweet.

Tap at Winterfest. I don’t know how I have managed to go so many years without rating this. Medium sweet. Some flavor or caramel and tons of malt, with a sweet finish. I understand the recipe for this beer dates from the 1880s.

On tap, dark caramel brown with amber hues. Smooth roasted malt aroma. Tatse is malt driven, smooth and sweet but well balanced with hops. Very nice bock.

Bottle. Pours deep ruby-brown with sizable light beige head. Nose is well-hopped - smooth and appealing herbal noble hops make an appearance, along with just a touch of citrus. Flavor is robust and full of caramely sugars and toastiness, but also well tempered by a degree of resinous herbal hops notes in the finish. Excellent stuff.

Pretty decent bock and very sessionable. Watery mouthfeel but with a substantial caramel and bready body.

It has been a while since I had this but I remember really enjoying it. The beer has a sweet, caramel flavor with a slight hint of roast. It has a really nice color and is really smooth.

12. oz bottle pours clear amber color with a tight off white beige head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is mostly caramel and sweet malts. Taste is mostly sweet with some bitterness and nuttiness in the dry finish. Body is medium with average carbonation and a slightly slick mouthfeel. Exactly what I was looking for in a reasonably priced bock. I would try this one often if it were available where I live.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of straw malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, and alcohol, leading to a ry alcoholic finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
