TheBeerOrg (1371), Kentucky, USA Apr 11, 2008 Pours dark reddish brown with a mostly receding tan head. Tastes of toasted malt, caramel malt and adjuncts (corn). Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Not impressed.
cheapdark (1526), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 10, 2008 Interestingly, this is in a clear 12 oz bottle with a twist off cap. Pour is like root beer. Has a very yeasty aroma with possibly some malt olfactory too. Good initial carbonation. Malty flavors on the first taste. Flavor is quite interesting and there does not seem to be any offensive hop bitterness. The taste buds seem to pick up mostly malty and alky flavors, taste seems to have much more alky in it than the 4.8% listed here. Finish is somewhat roasty without being over the top and that alky malty hint hangs for a while after the session. phishpond417 (1162), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 15, 2008 Pours a dark semi clear brown colour with a medium sized tan head. Head is quick to dissapear, leaving behind little lacing. Almonds, oak and raisins on the nose. Taste is lighter then i expected. Lacks a solid mouthfeel, slightly watery on the palate. moelikebeer (93), New Brighton, Minnesota, USA May 14, 2008 Bottle. Clear, light brown/dark amber pour with a medium head. Faint aroma of roasted malt and nut. Flavor of roasted malt; slightly sweet, though not much else going on. Light body and pretty drinkable. OK beer. scooter_bub (139), Lander, Wyoming, USA Apr 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber (almost red colored), with a large active tan head that fades some. Aroma is of malt and sugar. Tast is the same, but with some caramel notes. This reminds me of their Caramel Bock, but a little less exciting. Though I paid a little more than what I wanted, this is a pretty good beer, as it is smooth and clean tasting. Also, kudos on the packaging and bottling as they are eye catching. It is pretty nice to see a dark/amber colored beer in a clear bottle.
On a side note, I feel this beer is better enjoyed in the bottle.
