COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schell’s Deer Brand was developed prior to Prohibition and has been Schell’s flagship beer ever since. Brewed from 70 percent barley malt, 30 percent corn, and our unique ’Schell’ yeast, Deer Brand is full flavored American Lager.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Straw yellow typical lager look. Aroma of faint corn and grain. Flavor is inoffensive but bland - a little sweet grain, a hint of bitter in the finish (or maybe its may imagination....) Nothing bad but nothing good - meh, fuggetaboutit.

[Bottle] Pours clear gold with a ring of white head. Aroma is odd. Very sugary sweet at times, with barley, a mustiness, and vegetal notes. Taste is of course barley and corn, with mild bitterness and the faint vegetal notes again. Quite thin, short finish. Schell’s has been making some nice stuff lately, but this is boring and does little for me.

Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a pale yellow with little or no head, the aroma and taste are both grainy and metallic, boring overall.

This is pretty much bottom of the barrel as far as Schell beers go. Corn flavor with diacytel. Rotten corn. Some of the pale lager macros are less offensive. It wasn’t a drainpour, but I would pretty much avoid this at all costs. I got it in a sampler pack.

Extraordinarily pale yellow pour, and moderate white head that fades instantly...this should be good! Very weak malt nose with touch of grassiness. Flavors are very weak malt sweetness, dry hop bite in the finish...again, kind of grassy. Never again.

Deer brand pours yellow with a short lived and fizzy head. The aroma is of faint Schells corny malt, sort of midwestern. The flavor is macro like and not much else with a fizzy palate. Overall, the worst of the Schell products. There are much better. Even the dark - which is like DB, but with color.

Not much of a nose at all, a little bit of maltiness. The beer has a very attractive bubbling carbonation. There is not much of a head to speak of though. The taste is very crisp and light, but very dry with a light malty taste. Enjoyable for the style.
