Pours a deep orange red color with a medium head and a good amount of lacing. Flavor is slight roast, honey. Finish is dry, a nice mix of pine like hops and rye. Medium to light bodied. This is actually a pretty solid beer, seems that it was implemented well.

Pours a beautiful amber with a thick crown of tan foam. Nose is of malt. Nice and creamy on the palate, the taste is very well balanced between its malt backbone and its hop accents with very little bitterness. This flavorful beer is a good companion to a variety of soups and sandwiches.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear very deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of rye and sweet grains with a bit of light fruits. Flavor is very similar with rye and sweet grains throughout with just a hint of light fruits in the finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 CLevar (373) - Minnesota, USA - APR 6, 2013
Pour is a fairly dark caramel, minimal off white head, sparse lacing. Aroma is caramel and bready malt, light pine and citrus hops. Biscuit malt. Taste is a fair bit of caramel and brown sugar malt, toast, pine hop finish. A bit of spice, perhaps from the rye, is present in the taste but absent in the aroma. Slightly sweeter than I would have preferred.

12oz bottle. Amber-orange body, filtered. Creamy, steady off-white head. Sweetish malt aroma, not bad. Medium bodied, pretty easy going macro Rye beer. A pretty enjoyable hoppy Lager, something you don’t get too much, and even if Schell doesn’t really nail it with quality ingredients, they can brew well enough to execute something like this. Smooth caramel, rye malts malt, steady respectable hop bitterness, well balanced.
