1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 DFS (9) - USA - MAR 16, 2009 does not count
Poured amber with a frothy head. Different aroma.. Decent at the start and throughout the finish but did have an unbalanced taste. I’d recommend this is you can mix your own 6’er.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Trev (1424) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - FEB 1, 2009
Pours amber with thin off white head.
Aroma is some light caramel, toast, a woody dried straw hoppiness that brings a funk to the aroma.
Flavour is medium toasted malt and a woody hop bitterness.

Bottle. Pours an average amber with a slightly active body and a nice head of cream brown. Aroma is malted garbage disposal and vegetable. Flavor is retarded red wine with vegetable throw-aways and dough. Average mouthfeel. Burn this brick. Earlier Rating: 1/13/2009 Total Score: 1.3 Tap at Axel’s Bonfire, Blaine, MN. Pours a thin apple juice orange with a weak pear aroma. Flavor is weak, watery apple cider minus the cider bite. Watery mouthfeel. I wanted beer, not watered-down apple juice.
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 aetheon (81) - Beer Dungeon, Minnesota, USA - JAN 19, 2009
UPDATED: OCT 24, 2009 nice dark amber color, medium full bodied, smooth malt forward. I love the balance of this beer, heavy on toasted malts with enough hops to bring it all together.
my favorite Schell beer.

Pours a filtered amber color from the tap with a trim white head. Features flat hops, flour, and slight almond. Tasted watery and unbalanced to me.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 fidelis83 (1261) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - DEC 12, 2008
Pours dark amber with a 1 finger creamy off white head. Nose is pretty weak, straw, caramel, toast and planty hops. Flavor is very stale bread and straw heavy with some grain, caramel and metallic notes. Hops are herbal with a hint of citrus. There is something about this beer that sort of falls apart about mid-taste. It starts out o.k. though a little tinny, but after 2-3 seconds it tastes like an equal mix of a decent Vienna, a stale pils and tap water aged in an open tin can. And thats pretty much the finish. The mouthfeel and carbonation are just right for the style though, and to its credit it does manage a faily crisp finish, with the aftertaste mainly of herbal hops..

This is a beer that I was pleasantly surprised with. A friend bought a case of this on a whim, it being on sale at the local liquor store. Not a huge malt flavor kind of guy, but this one was surprisingly easy and enjoyable to drink. Cannot beat it for the price. It has become a staple when the wallet is a little light.
