3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into Sam Adams Sensory Glass.
Color is a golden bronze. The beer looks dark, but you can see right through it. Pours a light tan head that leaves great lacing.
Smell is very malty. Roasted malts with hints of carmel. Taste is of roasted nuts and the same hint of carmel. The taste is mainly malty, but there are some slight earthy hops present.
Mouthfeel is very rich and creamy. The beer goes down with a slight bitter aftertaste.
Overall this beer is easy to drink and could be a wonderful session beer. It is a great beer, however the taste becomes more and more of a typical lager after a while, and I am more of a fan of ales.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Lackluster amber beer. Not nearly as good as Mexican amber lagers and nowhere near the quality of Austrian/German Märzen beers. Another example of Shell´s inability to produce anything decent.

Bottle. Pours out a clear amber colour with a mild-light white head. Scent is lightly sugary with an unusual musty smell. Taste is distinctively malty nested on a light hop backdrop with a mildly sweet finish.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Malty aroma and flavor, slightly fruity without much a a trace of bitterness. I could say it’s easy drinking, but there are many others better than this that are also easy drinking hot-weather beverages. Then again, I’m not really a fan of lagers in general, so my review should be taken with a grain of salt. Actually, the best thing about this beer is it’s appearance...deep orange that gives way to sunny yellow at the edges...and not quite completely clear giving it the illusion of density.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2009 nice dark amber color, medium full bodied, smooth malt forward. I love the balance of this beer, heavy on toasted malts with enough hops to bring it all together.
my favorite Schell beer.

Amber, orange color, malty aroma with a nice roast and a bit of caramel.malty roasty flavor with a citrusy side,a touch of hops and a mild bite towards the end.Not bad, could go a little further on the malt and caramel i think but, it’s pretty smooth and easy to do.
