Draft at Axel,s MSP airport.
Pourd clear amber color with an average frothy white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Medium sweet toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture with soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of short to moderate duration.
Another average beer.

The Firebrick is a brown appearing lager. The aroma is quite malty, and somewhat citrusy as well. This aroma is muted, however, when sipping the beer. Iím having trouble getting a good taste of it. Itís strange; Iím just not getting much out of this beer.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2010 Iím not sure if I liked this one or not. From New Ulm, which is a good brewery. Was in a sampler pack, and I think this was my least favorite.

Hazy reddish pour with white head. Aroma has notes of some roasted malt, touch of bread and fruit. Taste is some bready fruit, and a touch of caramel. Average, weak flavors, and not that many of them.

Dark amber pour with a fizzy head. Light aroma of stale hops and corny malt. Flavor is sorta like not so great. Meh.

Festival Tap: They should look to their Cheesehead neighbors for help on this Vienna. So much thinner and lighter in flavor than examples from Lakefront & Capital. Nothing bad about the beer, it was light amber with hints of sweetness and some bitterness at the finish.

Bottled. I belive this was my first beer in this style, back when I visited the Schell Brewery a few year ago. It seemed very likable then, though there are few faults when I try it now. There is a good Vienna malt smell. It pours a nice red with little to no head. Taste is rich and malty, but has the phenolic tang of peated malts. So a bit off, but thatís the risk in this style. Definitely worth looking up if you get a chance.

shaker / eww, stinky aroma. i donít care to sniff it out anymore. okay... fizzy pour. bah. stinky. caramel? forget it. perhaps itís a bad bottle because the score is currently 3.24 yet i hardly believe it. basically, this brew tastes like sweaty flowers dipped in caramel. it prickles, and leaves a strange aftertaste. meh.

Very basic lager. While a Vienna is the Rolls-Royce of lagers, it never impresses me. A rich marzen is much better. Not a beer Iíd buy.
