COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schell’s Hefeweizen is made with 60% wheat malts and 40% barley malt. We use an authentic wheat beer yeast culture, which gives the beer a fruity ale character dominated by a citrus-like tartness. A slice of lemon is traditionally served with this type of wheat beer.
Ingredients: 60% Wheat and 40% Pale malts, domestic Cascade, and Mt. Hood hops.

12 oz bottle generously given to my by my friend Derek. 092812 038809 stamped on the bottle. The pour is a lightly hazed yellow golden with a one inch white head that falls pretty quick. The aroma is grain, light lemon citrus, and a hint of earthiness. Generally, faint nose. The taste is wheat grain, sweet banana fruit, light spice clove and an earthy mineral in the aftertaste. The flavor picks up considerably from the nose. The palate is medium bodied, nice un-filtered mouth feel, and the dry mineral finish. Easy drinking, decent enough Hefe. Thanks for putting this in my care package, Derek.

This was a decent hefe. The aroma was very nice. Strong thick banana with just a hint of light malt. Pour was a little disappointing. Light, clear macro-lager gold with a one finger white head. Looked like a Budweiser. Taste was surprisingly good. Nice banana and light malt flavors. The finish is a little quick, but this is a nice American made hefeweizen. Not as good as a Franziskaner or Ayinger, but good intro to the style.

12 bottle. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aromas of banana, clove, wheat. Flavors of banana, clove, sweet malts, and wheat. Nice thick american hefe. I actually found this to be quite tasty.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

Straight from the bottle. Aroma is sweet wheat and some clove. Taste is sweet with a touch of spice. Wheat, clove, banana fruitiness, and a nice tartness. Body is pretty light, and hella easy to drink. A unique offering that isn’t as banana forward was many american hefeweizens.

Lemon zest in the aroma and a rather clear gold-yellow in appearance. The flavor is of bananas and yeast. A relatively subtle hefeweizen, not near the best but still pretty good.

Pours a cloudy straw yellow with a 1 finger creamy white head. Aroma of banana, clove and german yeast. Taste is a touch tart and citrusy/lemon up front, but mutes to a slight bready flavor. Dry finish.

Bottle. Light gold pour with minimal head. Aroma of clove and citrus. Taste is highly carbonated, mild citrus and bread. Good.

On tap at the B & L in New Ulm. This stuff was as fresh as I could get it. Served in a Weizen Glass Pours a nice 1 and 1/2 finger creamy white full head. Very good lace. The lace really make it look nice in the glass. Color is an extremely hazy pale orange juice look. Aroma: The obvious banana and cloves. Very sweet and fruity. Light bready malts. A very good representation of the syle. Taste: Bananas, some nuts, clove, very fruity. Bready malts. Pretty good. Mouthfeel: Way to crisp. Beer seems to be overcarbonated. Medium bodied. A tad smooth. Overall, this is one damn good representation of a hefeweizen. I am not trying to give it good ratings, just because it is my hometown brewery, but when this stuff is fresh, it is ridiculously amazing. I think it deserves way more than a B. I could drink this all summer long. I will definitely be getting more of this. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 06-10-2009 18:21:20

Tap. Very hazy orange pour, little carbonation and a light orange aroma. Flavor was creamy orange, some banana and finished light and refreshing. Not complex, but really refreshing and good summer beer.
