Mrthirstyneck (339), Minnesota, USA Jun 16, 2008 yep, found it after i failed to remember to look for it the last few weeks. Grabbed a sixer. Somehow I had never tired this ( hard to find i guess. Very fruity/banana aroma in this one. Color is cloudy light yellow/oragne. I’m a big fan of this. Seems to have more pronounced flavor than most i’ve had and NOT overcarbonated at all. Very very tasty hefe!
Guerde (489), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Aug 16, 2008 (bottle) Pours a hazy light gold with a white head that quickly fizzles out. Aroma is initially pretty pleasant, with some banana and a lot of vanilla. The smell loses a bit of its strength as it warms, and takes on more of a bready character. Some clove and cinnamon kick in as well. The taste is far superior to other substandard hefes, and lacks that watery, lemon, and mineral-like quality that poor hefes possess. The flavors are all there, the banana, bready yeast, and light clove spiciness, but everything is a bit toned-down for my liking. The finish is crisp and clean with the appropriate twang of wheat, and the body is medium. This is a highly drinkable offering from Schell, but as with other Schell beers, it is pretty middle of the road flavor-wise. Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 5, 2008 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy golden brew with a thick white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and white ring with some spotty lacing. Aroma of mild banana esters, golden grain malt with wheat, a touch of cloves, and some tropical fruit. Taste is smooth, medium bodied, with a nice hefe banana flavor, some cloves, honey and some fruit. Finish is semi-sweet, mild clove and banana aftertaste. Nice! badgerben (3160), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jul 5, 2008 Hazy gold color with a thin head. Big banana aroma and a bit of yeast. Strong wheat flavor. Definitely some citrus and banana. Not world class, but perfectly solid. grimreeser (738), Minnesota, USA Jun 23, 2008 Pours a light hazy gold with a smallish head. Aroma of banana, spices, a bit of lemon. Light sweetness, more of the spices come through. Solid.
