5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 OD40oz (740) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - SEP 27, 2009
What a find!! Great white trash treasure. This beer is simply kick ass. The bottles are cool with the different lakemaids. The beer pours a dark gold. Very good lager taste. I could drink this stuff all day everyday if I had the opportunity. The caps are the best. They each have a species of fish and a weight for it underneath the cap. Nothing like getting drunk and fishing without having to leave the house.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 incutrav (577) - Woodbury, Minnesota, USA - JUN 30, 2008
Picked up a 12 of this for 12.99. Not cheap for a lager, certainly not for one that is marketed towards fisherman. That being said, for a macro lager, it doesnt get much better, Clean, crisp, nothing offensive. Really a great brew to have up North in the boat. For the record, Miss Smallmouth is by far the hottest of the lakemaids. Also, the little booklet that comes with it has some fairly humorous writings....

Bottle. This is one of the best pale lagers I can recall. Nice sweetness to it with a nice hop balance. A little darker than usual. Very clean, very crisp. I could drink this regularly with no problem. Nice, light, refreshing on a hot day. Tasty.

Clear yellow/gold.Half inch head with frothy decending lacing.Well carbed.
Aroma is sweet grain, corn maybe, slight noble grassy/floral.Very slight carmel/butter.Pretty good light aroma for a pale lager.
Taste is fairly creamy with light carmel/butter notes, medium body, mellow sweet grain, corn and mineral notes. Pretty good alltogether taste.
Nice mellow smooth finish slight citrus/raw plantygrassyness sorta pepper like in bittering. Smooth and mellow taste.
Pretty good sessionable pale lager.I havent had any average/below average beers from Schell, pretty good beers in my opinion.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 fidelis83 (1589) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - APR 19, 2010
Pours pale yellow gold with a 2-3 finger chunky white head that has good retention. Aroma is cereal grain, dry corn, light fusel notes and hints of planty hops. Flavor is lightly toasty cereal grain, light sweet corn, crisp mineral notes, straw and light spicy hops, a little iron to the finish. Palate is light bodied with an ever so slightly slick entry, neutral finish and moderate carbonaiton. The aroma didn’t leave me expecting much, but I was nicely suprised. This is a tasty, refreshing pale lager. Definitely one of the best I have had.

You gotta love the shtick coming out of Schell... Thanks to Skyview for sharing. Yellow color with no head. Light grain aroma and some marshmallow. Sweet, clean grain flavor. Much like Grain Belt Premium. Simple and good.

Artwork on bottles is awesome. This is a solid lager. Nothing spectacular but can’t say anything bad about it. Easy drinking, clean tasting, mild hops. Perfect for the summer season.

Purchased at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a clear golden straw brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of sweet light corn grits, crystal golden grain malt, some citrus zest and a touch of red beets. Taste is light bodied, slightly sweet with flavors of corn grits, flowery hop character with a touch of pear. Finish is semi-sweet, a slight pear and bread after taste that quickly disappears to a clean finish. Actually it’s not that bad for a semi-sweet light beer. I could easily share a few bottles while fishing and tell a few stories about how the "big one" got a away.

Extra thanks to Wankerweasel. Pours clear with a white head that faces quickly. Aromas of sweet corn, grain and mild hops. Flavor is similar with a nice crisp mildly fruity finish. A really decent lager that I could easily session.
