Pours a beautiful gold color with a creamy off white head. Nice visible carbonation. Nose is of hops and malt. Nice and creamy mouthfeel. Taste upfront is malt, a little sweet like a doppelbock, but not as dark or as sweet, with hops providing the finish. A good maibock that pairs well with corned beef and rye bread.

Once again, Schell´s state that they are making German style beer, yet throw together another very average American micro. This one is packed full of caramel malts which make it very cloying and viscous. Drink it for the alcohol content if you must.

Caramel, roast and mild floral aroma. Copper with white lasting head. Caramel, mild alcohol, roast and sweet malt flavors. Nice balance...sweet malt and mild bitterness.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Serving glass: Poured from bottle into a tall glass.
Appearance: Bright, burnished gold with foamy barely off-white head.
Aroma: Bittersweet apple, caramel and noble hop spiciness. Not sure I have ever smelled that much apple in a beer before.
Taste: Very sweet upfront with candied sugar, caramel, apple, and some grass and straw characteristics. Ends slightly spicy and bitter, but less so than most other Maibocks I have had.
Palate: Moderately high carbonation, medium body, fairly warming, slightly cloying finish.
Overall: It’s an okay Maibock, but is simply too sweet and alcoholic for my personal tastes.

Golden color, fair amount of head.Bought it room temp shelf, and is slightly out of season which may explain the off yeast aroma.Other than that it is a good malt aroma candylike smell fruit like hop aroma with some alcohol along with a pleasant yeast freshbread like aroma besides the off aroma.Taste is similar very good flavor, low bitterness smooth malt soft hops finishes with a clean mild citrus.Almost a session but good to savor.

Pale malt crunch with alcohol burn, not a real flavorful beer but a kick in the face if you need it.

Cask at the Upper Mississippi Mashout. Not sure why they casked this one but whatever. Pours a slightly hazed deep gold/yellow. Nose is very bready and a touch sweet. Bocky melanoidin component as well. A hint of spicy continental hop notes and perhaps a grainy component as well. On taste, medium bodied with a round sweetness from the alcohol that is a bit much, imo. Does have a robust maltiness to it, but the sweetness does seem to get in the way. A hint more bittering would have been perfect for this one. Okay.

Pours reddish orange with white head, aroma has notes of caramel, grass, and pine. Taste is some dull notes of grass, leading into caramel, slightly bitter finish. Pretty good flavors, but not very many of them and not very strong.
