COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A shining example of the true European Pilsner style beer, Schell's Pilsner is brewed with 100 percent barley malt, where the imported German Hallertau hops flavor is showcased. Its full hop characteristic and delicate aroma were developed in Pilsn, Czechoslavakia around 1840. This style was widely copied by early American breweries. Over the years, however, it has been lost to the much lighter-bodied, low-hopped relatives we refer to as American "Premium" beer.
Schell's Pilsner has won many awards, including medals from the prestigious Great American Beer Festival.
Ingredients: 100% Pale malt, domestic Cascade, and imported Hallertau hops.

12 oz bottle pours a pale golden color with moderate white head and a little lacing. Aroma has grass, grains, and some floral hops. Taste is slightly bitter with a short finish. Body is light with average carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. Nothing negative here, but nothing to rave about, either.

Nice easy drinker for a warm day - it is 20 outside (F not C)! Clear yellow in color with a large white head. Does remind me of the beer in Czech Republic, maybe a bit less bitter. Would not mind having a few of these after mowing the lawn.

Bottle pour into pilsner glass. Light yellow color with 1 finger brite white head. Smells slightly pungent - taste is watery bitter crispness.

Poured a nice mid-gold with a frothy head that faded slowly to lacing which remained throughout. Aroma was a mix of hops with a slight pear hue along with malts. Pearish hops predominate the taste although a nice malty backbone comes thru. Palate was nice. Overall a decent, drinkable pilsner.

Clear light yellow good carbonation frothy light good retaining head. Aroma is sweet bread with a light refined fruit/floral sweet butter carmel almost. Tastey beer nice hop profile in a mildly bready slight sweet beer with citrus and spicey bittering, kind of floral with a nice tartness mildly lemon. This brewery never seems to let me down.

Pours a light golden yellow with a pure white head with lots of carbonation. Nose is a mixture of malt and hops. Very creamy on the palate, the taste is clean and smooth and finishes with a nice hops kick, crisp and clear. A better than average pilsner that can be a great companion to anything from soup to nuts.

European Pilsner? Not even close. The flavor profile is strongly dominated by the late addition of very coarse hops. The aroma is similarly floral. Not sure why Shell´s is making a Pils that tastes like a West Coast IPA, but that is what this is. It would appear that they do not know how to produce a genuine Czech or German Pilsner, so they pawn this off on us instead.
