2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A very attractive beer with a deep amber body, sustaining tan head, and an excellent carbonation show. The smell is very, for lack of a better term, beer-y, with hints of chocolate, plum, bananas and dark fruits. Seems hot, unbalanced in the nose, but surprisingly good when sipped. Super fruity and sweet, with a strong malt background. The yeast comes through well, and the alcohol is well masked. Well carbonated but a little thin. The aftertaste is a bit strange, with coffee and almost burnt rubber. Hmm. I love Dubbels, but I don’t love this one. It’s decent, but a decent Dubbel just doesn’t cut it for me.

Slight Fruit taste and aroma not over powering. Mildly carbonated and goes down very nicly.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pours a clear orange brown with minimal head, some lace. The aroma is mostly malt and a touch, perhaps a hint, of banana. The flavor is sweet, slightly fruity, some spice notes, fresh bread, well balanced, a very nice suprise. The palate is medium bodied and well carbonated. Overall, this is a good effort. Good job down there in New Ulm.

12 oz. bottle. Amber body with orange and yellow hues; thin white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Sweet malt flavors with a hint of spice, bread, and citrus. Medium mouthfeel with a little fizziness near the front of the palate. Finishes sweet and slightly oily.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear medium red and amber with some brown-bronze at the edges, off-white foamy head,
not as dark as the others dubbels I’ve seen, aromas of dark malt, malt sweetness and some hard candy sweet fragrances,
hint of spice and chocolate, toasted malt, faint dark fruit and raisin fragrances, malt and fruit flavors,
initially sweet but ends dry at the finish, faint pepper and spices at the bite in the finish, letting this ale warm up helped to
bring out the flavors, this is an easy drinkable version of an Dubbel ale, where as I think of a Dubbel as a
sipping drink the Snowstorm could almost be gulped down, has a medium mouth feel I would say this a little thin for a Dubbel,
while drinking this six pack and it appears there was a difference in taste and aroma between the bottles,
some of the bottles were rich and enjoyable and other bottles were thin and just not there,
not a bad Dubbel but not great either.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Absolutely beautiful beer. Pours crystal clear red/amber with a thick but fast diminishing head. Lightly sweet malt aroma with just a hint of fruit. Flavor is quite full bodied with a balanced malt and light tanginess.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I was not aware that they changed the style on this one every year. I’ll have to keep my eye on it next year. This is not a fabulous Dubbel, but for Minnesotan, it’s well.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Orange copper color with a somewhat fizzy type head, not quite fully dissipating, but in the time it has taken for me to type this there is but a ring and a few small islands in the middle of the glass. Sweet aromas, with malt, raisin bread, almonds and a touch of dark rum. Simple, but effective aroma. It seems to dry out as it sets, so there is light bubble gum and wood. Slightly fizzy in feel. Quite a few esters in this one. Stewed raisins, lightly toasted malt, light candi all seem to be there, but nothing comes together that well. Hints of cherry wood in the linger. Somewhat Belgian, not quite a dubbel, something, something, something.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Red Orange pour. Filtered. Quickly dimiishing head. Somewhat artificial sugar aroma, typical of american made belgians. Pretty decent flavor for an american belgian. IMO it is hard for a domestic belgian to perfect this style (maybe it’s the water...don’t know), but Schell does a pretty decent job. This isn’t too bad.
