Bottle shared by Dan, thanks! Poured a clear amber brown with a gray head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of sweet grains and caramel with a hint of bourbon in the background. Flavor was a combination of sweet grain with cookie and a hint of caramel. Quite smooth and slightly dry finish.

Picked up a 22-oz bottle from Summit Liquors near White Bear Lake, MN. Pours a semi-clear dark reddish brown colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of caramel malt, hint of vanilla, roasted nuts, and a touch of chocolate. Taste is medium bodied, red wine profile is more pronounced in flavor with some caramel malt and dry wood flavors. Finish has a nice balance of bitter and semi-sweet malt aftertaste that slowly disappears.

12oz bottle from tytoanderso - thanks, Ty! Nice idea to throw one of these in wine barrels, as with some of the better alts thereís a piquant quality to the flavors that seems fitting. Not having had the base beer, I found this satisfying on its own merits. Solid brown pour with a modest tan head, moderate carbonation. Sweet malts and faint tartness in the nose. Mouthfeel just a bit slick, but the red wine notes keep things from being overly sweet. Nice stuff.

Bottle, pours a clear, deep, red-brown body with creamy light brown head. Aroma of dark and caramel malts with some red wine, wood, and a hint of vanilla. Flavor is similar along with some chocolate a fruity wine notes. Smooth mouthfeel and nicely carbonated. You can definitely taste the wine barrel throughout the palate - itís not overpowering, but itís there. Finish is a mix of chocolate maltiness and red wine.

light dark malts in the aroma,a little wood, a little vanilla, taste is the dark malts with just the slightest trace of of wood leached alcohol, interesting body and flavor for this brewery but insanely priced for what your getting

Pours a dark brown almost black color with a off white head. Has a malty wine barrel smell to it. Taste is about the same. Reminded me of a dopplebock in a wine barrel. I really liked it. Thanks Tyler!

Bomber shared thanks to largadeer. Pours a slightly translucent medium brown color with a creamy light tan head sitting on top, and great lacing. Loads of oaky -bal on aroma, nuts, caramel, and red wine. The flavor has less -bal but still a pronounced oakiness, along with slight butter, vanilla, and red wine from the -bals. The caramel malt and nuttiness of the base beer are a little overwhelmed. The palate is dry, and overly thin and watery. Lacking the heft that Iíd like it to have. I guess thatís what happens when you -bal age a 5% beer. A nice effort though, and not at all an unenjoyable beer.

650 ml bottle via trade with ncmussell. Thanks Nate. Batch #1. Pours an opaque black color with a small beige head that had fair retention and some minor lacing. The aroma is muted with spices, dust and nutty roasted grains. The flavor is earthy with toffee, sweet roasted malts, vanilla and some dirt. The palate was just a bit lighter than i would prefer, the carbonation is soft. Finishes short and semi sweet. Overall: I was saving this for a tasting, but I have run out of patience, that aside--this brew really hit the spot, very tasty.

Bottle share at stone sour ale fest. Brown pour. Grain bread, malt, sugar sweetness, lightly earthy. Itís alright, thanks for the taste.
