COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introduced on Memorial Weekend, 1998, and only available in the summer, Zommerfest is brewed in a 'Kölsch' style, which originates from Cologne, Germany. Its characteristics are fairly light—in color and in flavor. It is a pale gold color, low in hop flavor and aroma, with a light body and a somewhat dry finish. This is a pleasant, light-flavored beverage that goes well with any summer activity.

It is brewed with 90 percent barley malt and 10 percent wheat malt and now brewed with real Minnesota honey from Madelia, MN.

Beer Style: Kölsch Style Honey Ale

Alcohol by Volume: 5%

Characteristics: Light golden color with a frothy white head. Slight malt flavor and sweet hop aroma.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2013 Why this beer isn’t rated higher is beyond me. Actually I know the answer though. Beer rating sites, and Rate Beer in particular are biased against lighter styled beer. Like it’s less legitimate or something. This is one of my favorite offerings from a fantastic brewery. A splendid summer beer. It is in the Kolsch style, as advertised. An immediate light but definite banana, lemon zest, which quickly gives way to an underneath bitter finish. Totally refreshing on hot summer nights.

Pours a clear golden color with white head. Cereal grains on the nose mainly; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little sweetness.

Straw color with tall but quick diminishing white head. Corn and lemon on the nose. Taste much like the aroma with the addition of some grassy hops. Decent Kolsch but not a beer I will seek out. Hot summer day on the lake beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a pretty disappointing kolsch. Not too light, just uninteresting. Unbalanced. Weird sweetness. Tried at the brewery with Vaughn and Amanda.

12 oz bottle form a sampler pack. Very nice summer beer. I'm not a huge fan of this style but of the different summer brews I've had this is by far the best. Way better than the Sam Adams, Breckenridge, and Bridgeport versions. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Target Field... $9 for 24 ounces. I won’t get this again. Bad aftertaste and smell

Sample at beerfest. Pours golden with white head. Flavor and aroma are lacking, boring beer especially have trying so many others.

bottle. golden with small head. i’ve never actually tasted sweaty socks, but i’d imagine they taste a lot like the central flavor of this beer. there’s a bit of refreshing citrus as well, but it’s hard to appreciate.
