[Thanks to kevnic2008]. Bottle. Dark brown color with a light tan head with medium lasting. Aroma has notes of brown sugar, light dry fruits and toasted malts. Flavor has a good maltiness, with candy sugar notes and a moderate sweetness, but not cloying. The final is moderate sweet, slightly bttery and with notes of nuts.

Courtesy of JK. Dark brown color with a small head. Malty and floral hop aroma. Malt and barley-laden flavor. Light chocolate and caramel. Dry finish. Some floral hints as it warms. Medium body. Frankly, kicks ass.

On tap in Rothenburg, April 2013. I found this at a random restaurant new the town hall. Nearly black, with some redness, and a tall, lacing head. A beautiful beer. Rich malt flavor. Red meat; caramel; butter; and grains. Maybe the best doppelbock I have ever had, certainly in the same caliber as Andechs.

Bottle. Pours Deep Mahogony with an off-white head. Candied fruit aroma. It’s very sweet with sackloads of malty goodness and some plummy, raisiny elements. The alcohol makes its way to the front. A real dessert beer.

Ernest (6356) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 15, 2013
Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel/molasses, nuts/shells ,bread), with a note of brown sugar. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. A fair enough rendition but pretty generic and mild. Quiet aroma is just malt and sugars. Sweet in the mouth, and surprisingly modest in body. Pretty watery. Very difficult to get excited about it...doesn’t really do anything wrong, but seems kinda phoned-in.

Endlich mal etwas rosinenlastige Abwechslung, die mit einem gewissen Süße und nur wenig Alkohol im Aroma zu punkten weiß. Selten solch ein großes Böckchen gezischt. Toll.

McTapps (4606) - Ruhrcity, North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - APR 14, 2013
Deep dark brown colour with low head and smooth body, Nose of intense malt. Taste of rich malt, dark nuts, torf, burnt caramel, medium bitter hops, ripe grains and brown bread. This beer is really easy and nice to drink and it doesn’t have that much of a Doppelbock-feeling (you don’t really taste the strong alcohol). Nice and solid Doppelbock.
