3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
0,5l bottle from Sörspecialista, Budapest. Clear, dark brown coor with quickly dimishing light brown head.
Malty, sweet, alcohol and liqueur aroma - as a usual doppelbock. Heavy sweet taste. Heavy body, creamy
texture, average carbonation. The aftertaste has caramel flavour. It’s a heavy and sweet beer. This is a good
example of abbey doppelbocks, no more, no less. Good one.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
July 2010: Brown 500ml bottle. Poured into my lovely ’Wolnzacher Brauhaus’ Hopfenperle half litre glass mug.
Cracking looking beer, a deep, dark brown colour with a fantastic cream coloured foaming head. The foaming head soon became a collar and wisp, still looked fine though.
The smell was of lightly roasted malts and sweet licorice roots.
The taste and heady mix of chocolate malts, licorice and coffee hints.
Rich, creamy and a depth of body that only good DoppelBocks seem to have. The alcohol was evident, but not enough to put you off, just in the background reminding you the beer is 7.4% ABV and not to be messed with.
This is one of my favourite styles and this bottle is up there with the best in class.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured this into a mug a deep ruby red with a tan head. Aroma is carmel and cherry. Flavour is sweet a little cherry. Smooth acrost the palate little carbonation. Overall it is a sweet beer and a little too sweet for me but if I offered one or three I would not turn it down.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
50cl bottle poured into a dimpled mug. Deep ruby with ample tan head. Aroma is raisins. Flavor is also raisins. Palate is thick and a bit sticky. Light carbonation. This one is sweeter than I’d like it to be. It could use some more hops to balance it out.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark toffee/brown colored pour. Healthy light tan head. Plenty of lacing. Notes of roasted grain and malt with a hint of cocoa and coffee. Nice sweet malt backbone with a decent amount of roastedness. Nice sweet creamy finish with a hint of bitterness. Nice.
