2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Mahogany with a low, hissing beige head flattening into a slick. Prunes, liquorice, fruit loaf bobbing in gravy, swimming pool water and a shit load of alcohol aroma; flavour shot through with cherry palinka booziness, rye bread, brine and the tongue-numbing warm of alcohol. Robust and austere with little to love or soften the edges. Too flimsy and alcoholic for me; maybe I’m just not in the mood. Not a favourite.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great and unique! It dazzles me with the deep ruby hazy colour and the beige creamy head. Unfortunately it takes not a long time and doesn’t leave any lacing. Aroma of roasty malts and definitely some sour cherry. As you taste it attacks you with total effort. Your tounge will be numbed. Firstly light sweetness tempt me, then it turns to a complex flavour combination. This is some red grape, raisin, plums and also roasted malts with a beautiful caramel end. Soft carbonation and an overwhelming oily body. No alcohol-feeling, but if you don’t eat something before it could be brain-numbing. Aftertaste is very burnt, it almost reminds me that i’m drinking a stout. An excellent brew which alloys the stouts’ roasted malts and some ales’ fruityness, yet still an accomplished doppelbock with its absolutely full body. I like this complex kind of beers, that compel me write much about them.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
It’s dark brown with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, light chocolate and nuts. The flavour is sweet with notes of caramel, roasted malt, light chocolate, dark fruit, nuts and I find it very well balanced and it hides the alcohol well.

3.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
From Beers of Europe. Sweet without the heaviness, great ripe berry flavours, with chocolate coming in nice and late, to round things off perfectly. Reasonably low on aroma, plenty of carbonation, loads and loads of flavour. Juicy, malty, subtle, crackin’.......

Bottle. Dark bronze with a small head. Plenty of body and a nice range of flavours with maltiness slightly in front of the rest. Powerful but easy to drink. if you like this style, which I do this is one worth trying.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A - Deep ruby mahogany with a full, thick, creamy tan head. Decent retention with a decent lacing left over.
S - Dark caramel malt with some nuttiness. A hint of dark fruit and alcohol.
T - Has a slightly roasted malt with some grainy and caramel flavors for a base. Also some dark sugar and molasses taste. Good amount of rum soaked raisins and dark cherries. These provide a tangy finish along with a slight hopped (herbal) finish. Overall, somewhat sweet taste with a bit of a tang. Alcohol is fairly present.
M - Medium to full body with average carbonation. Smooth and creamy. Fairly sticky.
D - Pretty good drinkability. It goes down smooth and feels nice in the mouth and the flavors are fairly balanced. ABV is a bit high.
Notes: Pretty warming beer with a good amount of alcohol taste (rum like flavors) and a good amount of sweetness (but definitely not cloying) that is balanced by a tangy flavor. Good solid beer, but nothing amazing that is really worth seeking out. I would drink it again though.
