A mid to dark amber brown coloured beer with a frothy off white coloured head. An initial smoky spiced aroma is shortly followed by a roasted maltiness. Medium-dry and fizzy mouthfeel. A full spectrum of malty flavours! Smoky oak, warming spice of pepper and possibly cinnamon and vanilla! Then a nutty, roasted malt flavour comes through. After all of this there is a certain prickly sourness brought on from hops, giving a well balanced finish. Bottle from Fristo Getränkemarkt, Freising, Germany.

Bottle. Slight country smell. Clove and vanilla, wheaty. Soft, light refreshing acidity. Touches of caramel, and definitely a fair hit of clove, touch of smoke. Really lovely, shame i only have one bottle. Nice and dry.

A dark brown, reddish beer pours with a huge foaming. The beer smells very malty caramelly, slightly sweet, very full-bodied! Starts strong malty, slightly sweet caramelly in the background. Towards the middle part, a pleasant bitter roasted malt aroma is added. Hints of smoke are spreading on the finish. The further course is yeasty-roasty, very strong and full-bodied malty, well balanced sweet and bitter, with a beautiful hint of smoke and roasted malts. Terrific beer!

Tapped at Brauhaus Schinner. Appears foamy light-brown body with dense medium white head. Some bread notes and light malt fleur. Thick body with nice balance of malts. Very good keller!

Had this one in Bayeruth at Schinner’s Brauhaus. I could curl up in the brewput forever. Poured amber with some haze. Tan head. Nose was simply malts and hops. A little bit of sweetness makes this easy to swallow. Good beer.

Embrouille (2835) - SWITZERLAND - AUG 17, 2010
Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of Quack-Duck. it pours a hazy amber red beer with a fizzy bubbly light beige head. The head retention is mediocre. Inviting, rich, slightly smoky nose where hints of caramel, raisin, coffee, almonds, nougat, vanilla, walnut and lemon peel show up which are accompanied by strong notes of peanut butter and tobacco. Sweet, delicately smoky taste. Creamy palate and gentle carbonation. Medium bodied. Lovely malt profile. A lot of peanut butter in the flavor again. Late moderate bitterness. Hardly any lacework. Flawless balanced finish which is reminiscent of nougat, asparagus and peanut butter. A remarkably delicious beer. Big thanks Stefan!

courtesy of Philipp Sigg and Thomas Schneider - clear amber-brown colour, little beige foam left; crisp malty aroma with notes of caramel and chestnuts; medium-bodied and pretty tasty, earthy; slightly tart and bitter; long malty and earthy finish, moderate carbonation - very good
