Tasted 11/1 Tap Room. Deep ruby hue. Light roasted malt and a sweet hop nose. Nice caramel sweet malt flavor. Nice mild hop note in the mouth. As it warms, the hops become more apparent and dry.

Pours a reddish hue ith a very lacy head. Aroma is sweet toffee and mild hop pepper. Very caramel malt profile with a medium hop spice, sweet and smooth. Like their pale ale, only with fewer pale malts and more caramel malts.

Pour is a almost bright red with a white head. Aroma is caramel and hops. Flavor is a nice mix of hops and roasted malts that leaves a nice nutty aftertaste after the swallow. This could be one of the best Alt’s I have ever had.

tap-hop in the city-pours copper amber with a small white soapy head. carmely malt and funky yeast character predominate the aromas. lots of caramel malts. the flavors are mostly malty with notes of carmel, chocolate and lightly toasty. good body-full and a nice palate. some decent grassy hop notes on the finish with a touch of earthy hops as well. pretty damn good alt!

Sweet caramel and malt aroma, festive and sweet grass as well. Bright orange and clear appearance. Grainy and sweet like the aroma, but more subdued. Quite refreshing.

(draught at Bottleworks) Medium-dark copper with small head. Mild aroma (but I had a stuffy nose) with hints of malt and hops. Body is balanced malt with a bitter pine-y, spicey hops finish. More hops than I ususally think of for the style.

Hop in the City '03: Dark brown, minimal head. Sweet honey malt, a just a hint of hops. Smooth though thin mouthfeel, strong bitter finish with some good malt wrappers. Nuttiness is lingering around and leaves a good flavour.

This rating was from the Hop In The City event where brews from the previous year were sampled (5 oz) by the attendees from kegs. This brew poured a small head of white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a hazy orange brown colored body. It had a mild malt floral aroma and a bubbly mildly biting mouthfeel. THe flavor was hoppy and somewhat spicey.
