4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2013 Tasted on-tap 9/17/2011 at the Hop in the City Festival in a clean half-pint taster glass. A necessary offering for any American craft-brewer, Schlaflyís is nonetheless very good. True-to-style. The Cascade hops make themselves known, but not in a rude way. Judging by its name and overall impression, I suspect this is the same recipe as their ďDry-Hopped APAĒ (which is also quite good) minus the dry-hopping.
2/26/2013 UPDATE: I tasted it tonight on cask, dry-hopped with Mosaic hops and itís bewilderingly better, so much so I would consider it "a whole ínother thing" but alas, this is Ratebeer, so Iíll update this entry. Delicious.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle from Mr. Bearded bishop in Tenn. Looks rich and yellow with off white 1 finger head . Smells crisp and with a slight yeasty twang with some sweetness and hops. Tastes pale and bitter at first with more tongue lathering hops. Also with some pineiness and some of that light twang. Pretty darn good ipa at overall of 7 of 10.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle from Pickís poured into a shaker. Pours a nice golden orange with a good amount of white head. Aroma of citrus and pine with a little sweet caramel malt. Taste is about the same with the caramel really coming through. Medium bitter and lightly sweet. Medium bodied with lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, very good. I wish I could get it year round but, alas, Iíll have to settle for the Dry Hopped APA instead.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
It poured an amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was medium sweet, grapefruit and some pineapple. The taste was moderately sweet, pine, grapefruit and some alcohol. A very decent IPA.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Excellent and complex ipa if consumed ice cold on a very hot day. As it warms up it starts to get funky and not in a good way. I would call this a tropical ipa, as it has a mango, pear, guava, and pineapple thing going on.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(12oz bottle courtesy of phaleslu!). Pours a hazy golden color with a nice, 1-finger off-white head. Leaves some lacing. Active carbonation. Aroma has some pine, resin, mango and pineapple. Taste is sweet malt with loads of citrus and some bitterness. Medium bodied with an oily texture. Bitter finish, but very balanced. Drinks so easily. A really nice beer that hopheads across the country should try.

3.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle- Pours a dark golden color with a small head and some lacing. Citrus aroma, mostly grapefruit with a bit of pine mixed in. Almost overpowering. Starts with an initial bitterness of citrus and pine with a bit of malt to smooth things out. Has a clean finish with just a bit of lingering bitterness. Spot on. Medium body, crisp but quite smooth. No real hint of the Alcohol. Excellent balance. Great IPA. I would love to have this from tap.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Itís been a looooong time, RateBeer. 12oz. -> English pint. Pours an orange blossom honey, with an egg shell head. Decent lacing. Smells of hops, grass, light malts, and alcohol. Tastes of an initial maltiness, which is immediatly suppressed by the hops. Thatís not to say this is crazy hoppy. After that initial sweetness is blended, this is an appropriately balanced beer. Cheers.
