2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
5/14/2011: Schlafly American India Pale Ale... Aroma: White grapefruit peel. Appearance: Cloudy dull golden color with a fluffy, off-white head. Flavor: A littlee toffee malt dominated by an extremely overly bitter grapefruit pithe hoppiness. Palate: Medium-light; lacking mouthfeel. Overall: Really disconnected and a poor flavor overall; I like bitterness, but this one was just raw, unbalanced, and lacking good flavor!
Draught sample (7.2% ABV) at Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #230 for this beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Had this paired with a slightly spicey chicken curry, which really smoothed over the bitterness of the beer I thought. Itís got huge citrusy/piney hop flavor but balanced well with the malty backbone of it. A fantastic IPA, chicken curry or not.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
I like this IPA a lot. It pours a very clear, gold/yellow with an average amount of carbonation. The aroma is sweet and citrus, and the flavor is really sweet, tangerine citrus up front, then you slide into the malt, and then this huge, strong, bitter grapefruit finish. The nose isnít a big component of the flavor, but thereís so much going on on the tongue, here, that itís not an issue. Iíll remember this one, and eventually have it again.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle: Pours bright yellow and gold with a nice thick white head, small CO2 bubbles and great lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine hops, good bready malt balance. Taste is sweet with a bit of salt and bitter to finish. Flavors of citrus, pine and malt make a well balanced, quaffable offering. Smooth and easy to drink.

Very solid ipa...subtle aromas, golden appearance, tastes of hops, citrus and a light floral. Overall this will be an ipa I frequent often.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a clear deep golden color with mild sediment and a thin off-white head. Aroma is exquisite, full of citrusy, floral hop characteristics, including pear, apple, and grapefruit. Flavor is very similar, moderate bitterness full of fruity sweetness. Medium body with a lingering bitterness and sweetness. Excellent IPA.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I donít know why this beer is rated so highly by everyone. I still think that Schlafly rarely is able to mix hops well and come out with a good IPA. I had this in the bottle, drought, on cask, and dry hopped with Amarillo and was equally unimpressed with each one. I love hops and IPAs but this one is unbalanced and muddled.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled February 21, 2013, or about 4 months ago. Pours darker yellow color.Lots of hops and malts, but too heavy for my taste. PErhaps a fresher bottle would have upped the rating, but I thought the flavor was muddy, and the hops somewhat buried in the malts. Not a favorite.
