4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Shrews629 (193) - Kentucky, USA - JAN 25, 2011
Hazy, golden/orange color with some yellow highlights around the bottom. Nice, white, thick head that was somewhat creamy with suitable retention and very nice lacing. Looks worthy to me. Suitable grapefruit citrus aromas. Some dry wheat and biscuit malt aromas come through very nicely and balance the citrus. Got just a hint of orange as the brew warmed. Very well balanced and not excessive. Favorable flavors of grapefruit and orange citrus. The bitterness is comfortable and is well-mannered. Slight hints of caramel malt compliment the wheat and biscuit essence. Medium mouthfeel. Dry, crisp, smooth and mostly refreshing. The palate is treated to amiable amounts of flavors and they tend to hang around for a good long while. This brew is, without a doubt, a sleeper in my opinion. Solid all aorund. It’s sessionable, easy to drink, pleasant on the eyes and taste buds and is just really pretty darn good. It’s not outstanding, but better than most. A pleasant suprise that I will visit again sometime in Spring or Summer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ttutony (509) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 23, 2011
Great citrus and floral hop notes on the nose. The hops come through very sharply and brightly, but still stay in balance with the malty backbone. One of the better pale ale’s I’ve had.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 DavoleBomb (965) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 18, 2011
Poured into a pint glass. Bottled 11/4/09.
3.5 A: Cloudy golden yellow in color. One and a half fingers of creamy head with average retention and some lacing.
3.0 S: In the over 5 months since this has been bottled, all aroma molecules have committed suicide. There’s a very small touch of herbal hops and nothing on the malt side. Maybe this would have been okay 5 months ago.
3.0 T: Not a big fan of the taste either. Hop bitterness is there, but it’s taken over by an unpleasant yeastiness and a bready maltiness that I don’t care for. There’s a touch of citrusy hop flavor, but it’s just about gone.
3.5 M: Mouthfeel is okay. Medium body, good carbonation, and reasonably creamy.
2.5 D: Not a big fan of this one. I’d be happy to try it fresh, as many people seem to have liked this.

[Bottle] Pours a light amber color with a fizzy white head. Aroma of vegetal hops and some skunk. Bitter taste includes stale hops, caramel, grass and some citrus. Average mouthfeel and body. I think I may have picked up a bad bottle of this.
