Commercial Description:
Around the time of the Louisiana purchase, beer was shipped in barrels. if one had been lucky enough to receive a used Bourbon barrel of Imperial Stout, this is what his/her happy taste buds would have encountered: roasty, rich, malty imperial stout with a strong dose of caramel, oak, and Bourbon character. This is the perfect beer to pair with hearty, cold weather dishes, smoked meats, and virtually any dessert.

Chocolate nose with some coffee and caramel sugars. Nice round taste with caramel and vanilla coming through very clearly. a bit of tobacco on the finish and the warming trend you would get with bourbon. Viscous mouthfeel from very light carbonation. Serious beer for serious fans!

Lighter on the palate, not completely opaque. Vinuous, tannic, strong alcohol. Bourbon really not that apparent, but woody notes. coffee, chocolate.

In bottle.. Pours Dark Brown..Tons of bourbon on the nose and taste. Caramel, oaky, roasted malts, hint of chocolate, but very thin mouth feel. Not the greatest but I had to try it

A great beer from Schlafly. Solid stout flavor with a clear hint of wood. While the alcohol can be tasted it doesn’t overpower the flavor.

Nice Impy Stout! Notes of bourbon in the nose. Flavor is chocolaty roasty malt. Finish clean. Notes of dark dark fruit, ripe fig, etc. Beautiful beer. Pours cola brown with not much head.

Dark brown, thick light brown head. Aroma of sweet dark fruit and spice, alcohol, berry. Taste is hot alcohol, rum soaked fruit. Some coffee/ mocha finsih. Quite fruity moreso than a lot of Impy Stout’s.
