Schlafly IPA is a session IPA, a smooth golden ale packed with the bold flavor and aroma of American hops. We crafted it in the spirit of the low gravity IPAs common in the UK where the style stands for hoppy, not heavy.

12oz can into a pint glass. Pours a crystal clear medium gold with a thin fizzy white head. Really nothing in the way of head retention or lacing. Aroma of fruity and grassy hops really punches through along with what I can only describe as a "Schlafly aroma" that I detect in many of their brews. The light citrus is pleasing, though. More lemon/lime citrus in the taste and it follows the smell nearly exactly. Some hay and grass in there as well along with a touch of light malt. Bitterness is fairly light and the mouthfeel is thin and water but that is to be expected. Very crisp and dry finish. Overall, this beer is a decent session IPA but not one of the best out there. I much prefer Founders All Day IPA and Lagunitas Daytime. Still, it’s ok for what it is.

Another beer thanks to Another6Pack. Cheers Trent! A gold pour, it comes with a 2 finger head of foam and has some good sticky lacing. Lots of citrus in the smell, some pine, a hint or 2 of tropical fruit. Oh, and there’s also a mild malt presence. Good smeller. Citrus and pine dominate the taste, good malty backbone though. It starts hoppy but not really bitter, settles in for a tick to some malty sweetness, then ends hoppy and where the most bitterness lies. Very tasty. Kind of light bodied at times, other times it’s close to medium bodied. It is thinnest in the finish. As it’s only 4.5% abv, I expected something along those lines. Tasty, smooth, easy drinking, I’m rather fond of this IPA. Another solid brew from Schlafly.

12 oz can served in a silipint. Pours with a towering foamy head that has very good retention. The head becomes nicely creamy after it settles a bit. Clear medium amber. Gobs of sticky lacing get left on the glass Near medium body is a tad thin. Medium+ but soft carbonation. Very creamy feel for style. This very easy drinking "session" IPA packs a fair amount of hop aroma and flavor, but is only mildly bitter and relatively low ABV. Fruity with both citrus and tropical notes. Also a touch floral and, in tasting, herbal. Excellent sweet/bitter balance from start to finish.

Medium sized white head with good retention and a cute lace. Hazy, gold colored brew. Nose of light citrus, carbon paper and some pale malt notes. Light bodied with good carbonation, little acidic. Nice fruity hop flavors, inky, lil juicy, dry pale malts. Dry finish with a balanced bitterness. Fairly quaffable. 12oz can from statelineliquors.

Can sample at Canvitational. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate complex hop aroma. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Good brew.

Sampled at GTMW 2013. One of my favorite new styles, the session IPA. This one in particular pours a nice golden color with a white head. Aroma has lots of bright citrus and floral hop overtunes, maybe a hint of pale malt. Flavor is light, grassy and citrus bitterness balanced with a mild pale malt and bready sweetness. Thin bodied, lively carbonation. Finishes crisp and clean. Nice. I will revisit.

From a 12 oz can shared at home. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Floral hop nose. Flavors of light citrus flavors. Light to moderate mouthfeel. Sessionable but not too exciting.

Pretty decent can o’ IPA though not the freshest you can get it, I’m sure. Pours cloudy orange with decent head. Piney hops. There’s more on nose with this than there is in the finish which makes for a good session ale. Average carbonation. Can from Finger Lakes Bevvie center.
