3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle at the Old Chicago in Overland Park, Kansas. 10 29 08. Pour is ruby golden with active carbonation bubbles and an off white 1 inch head. Nice lacing. Aroma of cloves, cinnamon, brown sugar. Maybe some malt underneath all of that. Taste is big clove spiciness, very much potpourri. The brown sugar and cinnamon are present, but mostly taste the cloves. There is a hop bitterness to the finish. Palate is medium and fairly mouth coating. Nice, but a bit overpowering on the spice - though this did relax a bit as it warmed.

Pours orange/brown with tan head.
Aroma was loaded with nice piney hops. It almost felt like taking a walk in a pine forest, the aroma was that strong.
Taste is hoppy, comes off well balanced with the malts and some spices (cinnamon).
Really loved this one.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. Nice clear dark amber with fervent rising carbonation and a good creamy head that settles pretty quickly to a thin layer. Nice aroma of doughy cake malt with some nice hops too. Flavor is fine, no flaws, but pretty weak without much character. Amazingly, no trace of alcohol (at 8%) really. Nice mouthfeel but a bit thin on the palate. Overall: dangerously drinkable.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Comes to the table with a caramel orange color, cloudy, and a thin frothy head that diminishes quickly. Aroma has a strong sweetness with spices, some grassy hoppiness and a faint citrus/Cascade hop aroma. Flavor has some clove spice to it, with a slight caramel flavor, lots of alcohol and ends with a great pine bitter. Mouthfeel was med and had high carbonation. Overall, it’s a good beer for the season.

Pretty darn good. A lot of the flavors of the herb beers are so mild as to be indistinguishable and then others kill the beer. This is a nice original, tempered balanced beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
2007 bottle. Pours a near opaque burnt orange with soapy sudsy off-white head. Nutmeg, clove, some vegetal in the aroma. Pumpkin in the flavor. Not too bad, but nothing special

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer pours a beautiful dark amber color with a medium strong head. Its an extremely hazy beer with little clarity. This is almost a year old bottle and it seems to work very well. The strong spices are apparent with lots of orange coming through. Lots if clove and nutmeg as well. The malts are just slightly aged with some British ESB like flavors coming off. Combines very well with a sweet biscuit and spices into a fruit cake type of a brew. Loving it.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from Lukas Liquor Superstore.
I know this is a holiday beer, but I saw it and just couldn’t wait to try it. I love beers like this. Pours a very hazy and cloudy, lighter amber. I can see the particles floating around, it must be the orange peel or spices that they claim is in this. Small, frothy and fizzy, off-white head that doesn’t stick around too long. A little lace. Smells of cinnamon and nutmeg...very holidayesque, sweet and spicy malts, toffee and gingerbread cookies, and oranges. I like. Medium to full body and creamy. Initial taste of spices and sweet malt. Slightly bitter hop taste throughout. Finishes spicy with a buttery feeling, almost like a cinnabun taste with too much cinnamon and nutmeg. Overall, not quite balanced. Needs something else to go with the spice driven tastes. Still, because it is a holiday ale, I understand why it would be this spicy, so I will take that into account.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very festive beer. Has a big aroma with cinnamon, spice and pumpkin notes. Tastes of orange peel and cardamon and maybe a bit of cloves and ginger. It has a copper-brick color and it tastes through with a bit of sweetness and toastiness that remains on the palate. A very nice drinking beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a redder coppery brown with a thin white film of a head. The nose is sweet with lots of ginger. Toasty, malty, with a bit of orange peel and a bit more cloves. Something resembling burnt socks, slightly. The mouthfeel is creamy, full and smooth. The flavor is a lot like the nose, only those socks come through more, and they are toasted, not burned. The flavors are still very ginger dominated. A bit of spice in other directions, though more subtle. Lingering sweetness. The 8% is well enough hidden.
